In terms of left backs... Alberto de la Bella was briefly linked back in June, but it's been quiet about him ever since Bruno Martins Indi was linked at the end of last season, but not since the transfer window opened Sebastian Corchia was heavily linked for a while, but his agent is angling for a move to Lyon Luke Shaw's name did the rounds, but the combination of a new deal at Southampton and his being English doubtless jacked the price sky high
I'll just leave this here as well http://www.telegraph.co.uk/sport/fo...riker-Hulk-as-Spurs-close-in-on-30m-deal.html Hulk - £30m is too much. Whenever I've seen him he's not been great Pjanic - would love this but can't see Roma completely shafting their side in 1 Summer (having already lost Osvaldo and hopefully Lamela) Mata -
If the deal is as close as Monday I'm astounded he'll play tomorrow. If he does play that one might be off too. Yeah I know, mood hoover
Laudrup has said that while he sees Bale as Great player, he goes not believe he is in Ronlaldo or Messi's league. I have enormous respect for this guy, I remember what a great player he was. He looks like he could go on to be as great, if not an even greater manager. So, I think I would listen to his opinions before many, many others. Just for what it's worth.
well, as we were about to pay £30m for Willian, we know Hulk is affordable in terms of a fee. - its the wages that'll be the headache. I Like hulk and woulnd't mind seeing him at the lane. But again, £30m seems like a lot.
Lamela usually plays on the right for Roma doesn't he? That's where Hulk also plays so I dunno - seems counter-intuitive. Lamela, Chiriches, a LB and Eriksen for me.
I don't think Holtby would resent us signing another young number 10, better that than we spent £30mill on Willian to play there, or keep Bale, or spend £30mill on Willian and play him there. They'd be on an equal footing and he'd have to prove himself as much as he would in any other situation, unless we bizzarely made him first choice with zero competition. As for Sigurdsson, not really fussed. If he goes then Carroll can be our emergency back up. I certainly wouldn't say no to Hulk, in the right environment he's unplayable but I think the costs are very high for him. Then again that was the same with Willian so I wouldn't be surprised if we continued along that route and if we do I won't be complaining, the Premier League's made for players like him. Dzagoev seems a realistic option although he's more of a direct player and if Bale's leaving then I think it's a good opportunity to have more of a playmaker in that attacking midfield position. As for Mata it'd be hilarious if we got him but there's no chance. No way. Not even a faint hope.
I could see hulk being quite versatile though. The guy is a weapon and might prove to be a good target man. Agree with you on other players completely. Don't think they'll all happen though.
I wonder if Vlad could cover at LB as well as play CB Jan can cover there But I'd certainly like a new LB, though was impressed by Rose v CP & DT. I'd like a back up keeper and a striker assuming Ade is going. Other than that just keep Bale and job done Assuming GB is going then Lamela sounds a good idea. I'm glad Chelsea got Willian.
Absolutely. How soon people's expectation is educated to believe this sort of transfer activity is normal for Spurs. You will certainly find people on here who would argue that if the transfers stopped now and Bale goes, then we have not done well. I disagree completely, there is very good arguments that the team is now far stronger.
A net spend would be uncompetitive if this would be the case. The team may be better all round at this stage so far but another season of going close but failing year on must end. The club have the chance to seize glory for once , we must take it .
We needed to do something about the fact we were "a 1 man team". - which we've done in the players we've signed. - that was needed regardless of bale staying/leaving But without bringing in a couple more, AND bale going, we're not any better off. I'll refer back to the "leaking bucket" term I once used. It's fine to sell, but we need to replace, AND strengthen. At the moment, we've strengthened, but when bale goes, we need to replace. Otherwise it negates so much of the strengthening we've done. If we do, it's going to have been an awesome window.
Hulk was the one target I wanted less than Willian. I would rather we get Erikson, on the theory that one of Gylfi, Holtby, Erikson or Carroll will probably be the playmaker we want (if, of course, we can figure out which one). If we want to spend 30 million, I'd rather it go to a Mata type (are we sure we don't want to put in a bid, and repeat Mourinho's words about Rooney word for word?), not a Hulk or Willian. After having looked very weak on the wings, suddenly with Townsend, Chadli and Lennon, we look strong, especially considering Gylfi was effective there last year. Though we may want one more, I see it as more of a 10 million spend. We've already had a good window. The right playmaker would make it a great one, to me, a left back would be a big plus (though I'm getting to like Rose--not so great a defender, true, but a real attacking threat), and another CB would be nice, not to mention a striker if we ship one of ours. No matter what we do, our window by itself hasn't bought us a CL spot. That depends to a certain extent on what Arsenal does in the window, and to a greater extent on what we both do this year. There's a chance we can finish above one of the other three clubs, but it will only happen if they slip up, or if we can become considerably more than the sum of our parts. The good thing which has happened in this window is that we continue to show we're very good at the modern moneyball game, and as long as that's the case, we'll continue to improve.
I'm not so sure about Hulk now. A year ago I'd have jumped at the chance to sign him but since his move from Porto he hasn't impressed me. Part of that could be down to the disgusting behaviour of his own fans towards him at Zenit but even when watching him in the confederations cup he didn't look like a £30m+ player to me. I'd rather bring in Lamela who seems to play in a similar position (Inside right/ Right wing forward) and looks the better player then use whatever money we have left on a CB who'll provide decent competition/ cover for Jan, Younes and Daws.
if we've got £30m, why not see what Villa think of that sum for Benteke? Worth a stab, and we need another striker.
Haha, absolutely no chance! He has proven that he is now worth more than that to them. They can't replace him. He will keep them up, without they could go down.
