He did his job today, but i'd rather see Barton and Ale in the middle.

Hes the type of player you bring on with 15 to go defending a 1 goal lead and going 5 in the middle.

Hes not they type of player to play in a 442. Faurlin is 10 times the player he is.

Do you remember Redknapp bringing on Ferdinand at home to Fulham to protect our lead? I've never seen such panic in the stands!

I couldn't agree more about Faurlin, I'm so pleased he is still here.

I thought Henry did his job well today. Won back possession, picked up the loose ball and, on the whole, retained the possession. Not a spectacular performance but effective.

Perhaps his best game so far.

Watch and learn lads I can see what Henry brings to the team ... And I'm in France

Watch when he doesn't have the ball

Great win and expect Henry to be there for a while Roller Col I hope to explain face to face in Sept

I like him off the pitch too

    He is onside with QPR

He is a Derry upgrade imo.

I'm looking forward to it already mate.

I'm worried about how he disappears when we are being pressed. As long as we are on top he looks fine, but I don't see him stepping up when we need him most. Next weekend could be a big test for him.

I think we all knew what we were getting when we signed Henry. We need a player like him to do the ugly shift and he has done it well so far. He will improve and grow with confidence if we continue getting results. The Derry upgrade comment by Col was a good one. He played a similar role to Henry the last time we were in this league. Henry is the bit of steel in front of the back four.

Love your positivity as ever mate (and your new location). As I see it, Henry is more mobile than Derry but not as savvy. Hopefully with more confidence he will grow as DT suggests.

Just wrote in another post that I think Harry is going for power over creativity especially away from home. I expect to see Faurlin playing loads at home. I though Barton had a shocker today but worked really hard. Henry will protect the back four. Nothing more and nothing less. We're already looking solid and we won't get turned over too often with that midfield. Not pleasant but damn well effective. Henry will cover much more of the pitch than Derry can. I fear that our only creativity will come from Hoilett or our new signing when he will be played as a 4-4-1-1 behind Austin

Agree with Col & 9's. he did what was required and supported the back four. No complaints here, he didn't put us in danger in ways which Clint did more than once! OTT comments.. Look at him for his game, and that alone.

I'm sorry, but I just don't get Henry. He had an OK game today, but most of this thread seems to be about him not being quite as bad as we had anticipated. Barton and Faurlin should be our first-choice CMs with Jenas as back-up. If we needed an enforcer, we had one in Derry, who is a better player than Henry IMO.

Can't argue with the results. He stays in the team as long as we continue to do well.

I remember Henry being a central part of Wolves Champ winning team in 07/08, where they overran almost everyone in the middle of the park.

I thought he was a beast today. Surprisingly impressed for a 'nothing' signing. Clever move by Harry to pair him with Joey.

Henry like Derry is a presence within a team ... Don't expect a playmaker

His job is to enforce win the ball back

    Structure without the ball

To put it into context I have played that role in the past and your job is done a lot with your mouth and positioning

Plugging holes and waiting for the right time to strike and win the ball as the formation and play dictates

Just growling used to work for me as during a game you control a non go area ... Protection and simple distribution with fangs sums it up

Watch as teams get forced wide as they can't play to feet and link up play

Henry is a disruptive force and energy and in time will challenge the legend of Derry and what he did so well in our promotion team

You have Henry Barton in a team then you win games by preventing other players from playing and in turn winning the most valuable area of the pitch the midfield
