Bout bleedin' time! We lost our club to the mercenaries, I think we've got it back gents IanJTaylor ‏@IJTaylor81 1m .@Joey7Barton - 'Its fantastic to be part of a group of men who leave everything on the pitch. Its a good place to be at the moment'
I agree, team spirit is looking great, but we were sloppy in the first 15 mins and would have been punished last season. Steady as you go, we are building, you Rssssssss
Another chance for me to see the new look Rs in action. Slow but steady progress. Bolton were the best team we've played so far and we dug deep and ground out a result. Just as at Huddersfield, it's a work in progress and we show signs of developing into a competent team, certainly one that can compete and give little away in this division. Barton is playing better at the moment than I have ever seen him play in the Hoops. Henry read the game extremely well and rarely put a foot wrong. We do need another CF because Zamora has to have his operation. I genuinely feel sorry for him. He does try but he cannot run, cannot jump and therefore has minimal impact on the game and I'm afraid that SWP continues to show that the best we can hope for from him is short cameos at the end when he can be let loose to run at tired defenders. He will, I hope, never be a first choice for the starting line up. It's impossible not to be optimistic. But then I remind myself. 4 games so far, 42 to go. 3 odd goal victories and a draw against 3 moderate teams and one good one. Feet remain firmly on the ground for me at the moment. It is very easy to get caught up in the euphoria of things going our way but there will be tougher times ahead and the measure of our progress will be how we, players and fans, react when they don't.
âWhen you see people like Alejandro Faurlin, who didnât get on today, celebrating in the dressing room and smiling as much as the others lads who did play, that tells you everything.â HR We have our Rangers back.
Yes it certainly looks like it. I definitely have my match day mojo back. My kids are complaining about my singing again.
I think that Leeds away next weekend will be a big test of how the team is developing SWP played well today and chipped in with some good defending Bumped into the players at Piccadilly before their train home and Hill was clearly still buzzing after a great cross for our goal Got to start scoring more goals though!!
I am satisfied with 10 of 12 but considering the chances availble at Huddersfield (from what I read) we might have even be 12 from 12 And though it was only 1 -0, it sort of helps to make up for the 4-0 drubbing 2 years ago in our first match back in the Prem I see where Andy Johnson is worrying about over confidence setting in (today's Ealiing Gazette, below). But I will celebrate anyway "QPR hero Andy Johnson has warned Rs fans not to get too carried away with the club's fantastic start to the season. The Rs went top of the Championship table, at least for a couple of hours, with a 1-0 win at Bolton in today's early kick off. But Johnson, who scored the only goal of the game at The Reebok Stadium, is in no doubt about the hard graft to come. He said: âThat was a big result for us. It's been a good start, with three wins out of four, but there will be draws and losses to come as well. There will be blips along the way, so it's important not to get carried away. âWe've got a lot of new players in, and it takes time to click. We just need to keep this run going and keep playing well as a team. In this league you need spirit, and we have got 25 players who are willing to roll their sleeves up. âTeams in this league work hard and press you. At times we were able to put six or seven passes together, and it was a brilliant move for the goal, but you won't get many opportunities to do that. âWe have a professional group, and nobody is talking about last season now. From the moment we got that first win under our belts in the first game, that was put behind us.â
Its a great start, something we all wished for. But for me, we still lack creativity in the side. As has been said above the winning margins at the moment are slender ones, and whilst a win is a win, we need to be creating more chances. We are in desperate need of another striker, and a creative midfielder - squad depth in those areas is something we dont have at the moment. When injuries and suspensions kick in we will need them.
It's not about the points for me, it's about the 5 games of 100% effort so far this season. We haven't seen anything like this for two years! We will lose at some point this season, we might not make the automatics...and we might not even make the playoffs. But right now it feels like this group is going to work hard and play for the shirt, rain or shine. The Exeter game epitomised this- a Tuesday night away to a Lg.2 club, and nobody "shirked"
I would've gladly settled for a draw against Bolton and Leeds. That we have already got a point more than I expected, any result will be a bonus next week.
Not sure if Rangers are quite there yet..but they look so comfortable in the championship, compared to the endless nervy performances over the last couple of years. A grinder of a game =standard championship. Now get more goals and we will be in the mix for sure.
so would I From what I have seen (not a lot admittedly) you seem in better shape than Leeds. BM has taken a squad made up of journeymen, after all the players who were worth something were sold off by Bates, and added a few cheap players (spent £1m on Murphy, to be fair). Seems to have got them playing as a team and motivated them, got them fitter, and made them hard to beat. Not a lot of players to watch out for, in our team. Austin is quite formidable in CM, provided he does not get sent off. Murphy could be good, also CM, still finding his feet a bit. McCormack is a player who has had a new lease of life under BM. We have a good young RB but he's injured. Look out for Lees on the teamsheet as CB - he's often worth a goal, unfortunately. So it won't be an easy visit, I agree, but you are not likely to be ripped apart by footballing excellence beyond your wildest dreams. I had a feeling we'd win at Ipswich, I fear teams that have a bit more quality. We usually concede a goal, as well, so I am thinking this might be a 1-1. Unfortunately it also might be a 0-1 or a 1-2.
