..We can all quote trophies, all know stats about our own clubs..But what is the best football fact you know?

    Mine is...

The record for the most own goals in a match is held by a club from Madagascar, Stade Olympique l’Emryne.

Their own goal fest was a mark of protest against a refereeing decision from the week previously. They were winning the match 2-1 when the referee awarded a very dubious penalty. Immediately after the penalty was scored, the referee blew for full time. (Was Howard of Salford in charge?)This defeat meant Stade were out of the running for the championship.

There very next match was against the newly crowned champions, Ademas. Directly, from each kick off Stade would turn tail and score an own goal. They did this 149 times in the same match, or a goal approximatly every 35 seconds.

Can you see that happening over here?

Founded on November 5th 1875, Blackburn Rovers owes its name to its lowly beginnings. The team lacked an official ground for quite some time after its formation, causing them to be dubbed the "Rovers".

Stopping off en route to Iceland , the Albanian national team were thrown out of England in 1990 after going on a shopping spree at Heathrow. They had thought "duty free" meant help yourself.

in the 1991-1992 season the title race in the GM Vauxhall conference was hotting up between 2 teams. Wycombe Wanderers & Colchester United. Colchester won the league on goal difference but things could have been oh so different if it hadn't have been for the fact that when Colchester played Wycombe away at Adams Park the game looked to be ending as a draw before Colchester keeper Scott Barrett had the ball played back to his feet in injury, he then launched the ball upfeild and scored the winner.

Wycombe got promoted the following year

Michael Owen has scored more goals against his current team than he has for his current team.
John Aldridge Jason McAteer and John O Shea have three things in common, they were/are Republic of Ireland internationals,They are all boyhood Liverpool fans and have scored for Liverpool against Manchester United at Old Trafford.

Bob Paisley is the only manager to win the European Cup 3 times with the same club.
Ronnie Whelan was the first player to score on his first appearance at Wembley when he scored twice in Liverpools 3-1 win over Spurs in the league cup final in 1982.
Ian Rush was the first player to score a hat-trick in a merseyside derby in 1982 for 47 years, the previous person to do it was Freddie Howe for Liverpool in 1935.It hasn't been achieved since. He is however the only player to score 4 in a merseyside derby.
When Liverpool won the league in 1982,they won it having been 13th on New Years Eve 1981.They won the league having won 20 and drawing 2 and losing 2 of the remaining 24 games.
When Liverpool won the title in 1983,they were 16 points clear at the top with 7 games remaining. They then lost 5 of the remaining 7 and won the league by 11 points.
Bob Paisley in 1983 became the first manager to recieve a trophy at Wembley in 1983.He was ushered up by Greame Souness to collect the league cup in our 2-1 win over Manchester United. The second was Gianluca Vialli who was player manager of Chelsea in the 1990s.
Liverpool beat 3 F.A. Cup winners in our 3 league cup wins from 1982-1984.
Liverpool beat Spurs in 1982 3-1.Spurs won the F.A. Cup.
Liverpool beat Man United in 1983.Man United won the F.A. Cup.
