Think he we referring to Coutinho having a footballing brain in the sense that he knew if he left then Sturridge was in a better position. But agree Sturridge has more about him and he's only 24? Going to get better and better with more experience when it comes to positioning.
Wonder what Rodgers is scribbling there? Probably triangles, all his notebooks are prob full of them like someone high on the spectrum.
Missing out on game time when he was 18-21 years old at City and Chelsea may actually do him some good as he gets older to. He was heavily hyped at that age but hardly got the games. That could bbe good for his muscles as he ages. Other quick strikers who played a lot at that age (Owen and Torres for example) have developed regular injury problems around the age when they should be peaking physically.
We look more solid at the back/defending this week, seem to be getting into better positions when Villa get near our box.
My only problem with Sturridge when he's playing as the focal point is he drops too deep to get involved sometimes, which not only clogs things up but doesn't give us someone who can make the sharp movement in behind when Coutinho/Gerrard get into that final 3rd.
Shows the hard work is being done in training. Nerves effected the players a bit last week. Especially Mignolet.
Difference is, Suarez doesn't have the pace to make those movements in behind the defence in the same way that Sturridge wants. If BR is telling him to do that then I can't argue, but I do think it leaves us short up top when he does that.
True and it's also applying it in matches and seeing the methods work builds confidence. Hopefully the more we play the better it gets now. Great save from Ming.
