It's a result I would have certainly settled for at the start of the game, but a bit gutted that we conceded so late on..

i thought our new fitness regime was supossed to have us bossing the last 10 minutes of games.

Tactics let us down badly today.

I'm more disappointed today than I was last Saturday.

The problem of last year ie our centre midfield being anonymous and overrun haven't been addressed.

Lads, it's going to be a long, hard season if today's performance is anything to go by.

I didn't comment on last weeks game as I thought we were unlucky and played Fulham off the park for most of the game without having that cutting edge.

But today what the **** were those substitutions?

First half wasn't the best football wise but we looked organised and hard to break down.
Pretty frantic at times by both sides.
    Dreadful defending for Giac's goal.

Sess was harrying the Southampton players high in their own half and it worked, if he had better alongside we could have been a couple up.
Wardrobe door was ****e the whole game more interested in the player than the ball.
Colback was a terrier the whole time he was on.
Giac was grafting for the cause too.

Ji was **** but still played a couple of good balls that any forward worth their salt would have latched onto. The flick over the defenders was begging for a forward to run onto.
    The forwards we had?
Wardobedoor and Stickham both static and watched it unfold, ****ing embarrassing forward play.

Second half we were disorganised and running about like headless chickens it was only a matter of time before they scored.

    Fitness improved?
Their looked some ****ing weary legs out there for us all that second half.

    Southampton well deserved their equaliser!

    PS.

Larsson will be the golden boy again as he managed to get TWO corners into the danger area.
Lets ignore his abysmal marking of SPACE the whole game.
A smarter man than me said "SPACE never scored a ****ing goal!"

    Must do better!

    PPS.

    Come back soon Fletch!

We were very lucky today....but so were Fulham last week. Having watched 2 games live now, I still don't understand virtually buying a new team and having 3 preseason games. Last week and especially it showed. I guess we will get better, but as someone has already said, this could be a very long and hard season for us.

Agree with your opinion of Larsson

I think we play him to take 1 good set piece every 10 (with the other 9 not beating the first man) and to argue with the referee a lot.

Slow, doesn't score goals, doesnt create chances from open play and weak as piss.

He is the worst centre midfielder in the division

Some on here think it is personal with Larsson.
It isn't I can admit the corner for the goal and the one that nearly took the keeper by surprise were excellent.
But they don't disguise the fact most of the time we are all groaning when he can't get it past the first defender most of the time. Or kicks the ball into the wall for a freekick in a dangerous position. (Which he did again today, ffs make the keeper work or get it onto a Sunderland head.)

TBF. this was a hard game. Scoring early always and I mean ALWAYS is a recipie to defend it. We have not one single player who can hold a ball and play it easy. Punt and rush, punt and rush. Simple passing , easy balls. easy one to the keeper, but no, just hoof the twat anywhere. PDC wants another 5? Needs each and every one.

I figure I have had 53 seasons supporting my home town team and I'm not sure how many more I can stand. So many false dawns. New manager, new regime, new ethics, new players but the standard of play has not moved on 1 jot. I guess I was born a sucker and will remain one.

half time subs should have been:

cabral for gardner or sess ( heard he may have had a knock , if so frankie)
Klasson on for Aj ( and move larson out right with the Italian in the middle)

Me too mate, 50 plus years of maybe this year. :p
I still think PDC has something about him mind.
Rome wasn't built in a day, but it's bloody frustrating waiting for the cement to be delivered.

    PS.
    Welcome to the madhouse.

Altidore doesn't look like he is premier class based upon two performances, but it is to early to judge him. His control is suspect and his speed of thought looks about half a second too slow. £8 million, if that figure is reported to be true, is a hefty fee for him.

    Ji isn't the answer.

Wickham has a much better touch than Altidore, firm and composed.

Sessegnon has showed he isn't a 2nd striker for a long time now.

I don't see Europe this year but we definately have enough to make a little progress from last year.
