I do agree with you that should he kick on, Henderson is the most natural successor to Gerrard we have in the squad. A lot of people were saying it was Shelvey last year but I think Henderson can if he is given the chance.
Why should country be greater than club? My club has always been more important to me. I abhor the FA and the way that it has treated the country as a milk-cow for its own ends. I detest the idiots - especially the racist ones - who come from no mark places, wrap themselves in a flag and tell me that players should 'run through brick walls to play for England'. Why should Gerrard be rested. Henderson may give you greater energy about the pitch but lacks the vision and passing ability of Gerrard. As Sky says, play both and make changes elsewhere.
In an ideal world a win is the best result, if that's not on the cards then a draw would be my second choice, after that I guess I'd have to accept defeat. But only begrudgingly.
Henderson was unlucky to not get two last match And Villa seem to have taken to pressing the midfield and being very physical. I don't think this should be a match for Allen. Henderson is playing well, faster and stronger.
IMHO, We need Gerrard, however whether you and I agree or not, he IS England captain, he will play those games, maybe we should look to future and try to lengthen Stevie's career not finish it cause who is gonna take over if we knacker him out?
