not really speculation, just a blogger expressing a view, anyway, he can **** right off. I can not think of a PL side that Morgan would not walk into and be a starter, for that matter that applies to Victor as well. Alot of teams have 1 really good midfielder and the other guy, we are lucky to potentially have the best pairing in the league.

I bet some Arsenal fans are really annoyed at our midfield. We have two bloody good defensive minded midfielders and they have really struggled with that position for years.
Seems to me that Wenger has just lost faith in the idea of a holding midfielder and wants his player in that role to be more of a quarterback. Obviously Morgan combines both roles but that isn't particularly common. Carrick does it well for Man Utd answer Britton for swansea and Spurs have looked to bring in players to play that exact dual roleBeyond that though, most holding players in the EPL (Tettey, Diame, Mikel) are just destroyers whilst others suh as Arteta and Ramires go too get the other way and leave their teams exposed.
Arteta's done a bloody good job for Arsenal in that role if you ask me, he certainly hasn't lacked discipline as you suggest.
Disagree. His passing is right up there in the stats but not his tackling. You see how hopelessly vulnurable Arsenal are to counter attacking football. At times its 3 attacking players against the goalkeeper. A lot of than is down to the mobibility and disciipline of the holding midfielder
I think the only time I've ever seen Arsenal with 3 attacking players against only their goalkeeper was when they messed up the corner against Villa. No it happened a huge number of times last season where they were just torn apart. hence all the MOTD analyses last year of them being vulnurable to the counter attack time and time again. Arteta played more games than Carrick. Carrick's positional sense, always right place at the right time, was vital for Uted last season.
Arteta is a decent player, but I just don't think he is a great player. He certainly hasn't under performed for Arsenal, but compared to the likes of Viera and Ljungberg who they had in the past, he is some way off.
Well according to the page I linked, Arteta played three games fewer than Carrick actually. I'm not arguing that Arsenal aren't vulnerable to counter attacks, but you exaggerate. I don't think that's solely down to Arteta either but that's difficult to prove. Well just about everyone is a way off Vieira! And I didn't realise Ljungberg was a defensive midfielder, think Arteta probably has the edge on him to be fair!
