I agree with some of what he says but i'm afraid when I read "Barry Ward takes a look at the man at the helm of The Bhoys " I kinda decided that I was not going to take the article writer too seriously, seems a weeee bit too much up himself.

Barry Ward ffs, as if we are supposed to sit upright an pay attention because Barry Ward of all people is about to dole out nuggets of wisdom.

Sorry Dev, I don't know anything about 'Barry Ward' so perhaps you would enlighten me? I just read the article and found it fairly compelling plus it seemed to enscapsulate a lot of what has been said on here - though I do think it's just a bit over the top.

That's what I meant EC, I have no idea who Barry Ward is meant to be or why his word is so important.

He does make some valid points but his tactical analysis is no better than what's been said on here and he seems to be shifting most of the blame onto Lennon for not demanding funds. I personally don't believe it's the Manager's role to demand money from a board, we have seen through bitter experience over the other side of the city what effect that can have <whistle>

Ah, my misunderstanding! Presumably as a Celtic fan, though, 'Mr Ward' is merely expressing his frustration with how he sees things at the moment, just as are a lot of the posters on here though I do think his article puts it a lot better than some! I agree with you however that he puts too much of the blame on Neil Lennon who can certainly be held responsible for tactics and team selection though injuries may hamper him in that regard. He cannot be held responsible for not spending big money on bringing in players. I like Neil Lennon though I do think his tactics at times are suspect and his ability to alter things when they are not working is questionable but when one considers how he turned things around so quickly after the debacle and despair of the Tony Mowbray era, he has earned my continuing support, for the present, at least.

I get frustrated at Lennon's tactics at times, and his signing policy but then i'd be hard pressed to think of any Celtic Manager in my (short) lifetime who was not guilty of the same, right back to Jock Stein who was guilty of some appalling tactical or signing mistakes.

I think by and large we all agree that this is mainly the board's fault for not investing in the squad at the levels we as fans expect (dare I say deserve). The only time Celtic have ever spent real money was under MoN, he was given a vast amount in real terms and his signings were succeses, although in the long term it cost us even more, due to the fact that very few players he signed had any re-sale value. Sutton, Balde, Lambert and Thompson to name a few who got big wages and basically retired after they left us.

I personally feel that's the reason Lennon's spending power has been restricted, not because they don't trust him, just because we cannot afford to spend at MoN levels again and expect to rebuild when we lose a lot of money.

:emoticon-0148-yes: I agree with everything you've said here. A case of the ups and downs of supporting your team through thick and thin but isn't that part of the thrill of it all ... though at times the annoyance level is hard to endure!

Even people who won't admit as such are probably annoyed at the board.

I did wonder why he didn't put Anthony Stokes on last week when we were crying out for a striker and it's looking like the list of injured players may hit us again for this week's game.

"Anthony has had a scan and it is a grade one calf strain. He is doubtful and that could be a real blow. I wanted to get him on in Kazakhstan but it was a major problem."

" ...they could be without attacking threats Anthony Stokes, James Forrest and Derk Boerrigter while Beram Kayal and Virgil van Dijk will also struggle to make it after picking up knocks in yesterday’s 2-2 draw with Inverness."

Come on now Pud, no ****ing call for swearing now is there?
Be fair, you're not really a CL level fitbae club are you? I'm mean you get a free pass every year FFS! And then when the obvious happens you get another ****ing shot in the Euro Losers Plate!

And besides, ICT will be Scottish champions this season, then the Bears will be back soon and then you're ****ed.
