I cant work the link as on my mobile but todays Telegraph Sport section says weve told stoke Hoillett is available for £7m during negotiations this week??? Sounds authoritative and the Telegraph is usually reliable but a. Do we really need to sell him? and b. Surely he was purchased to deliver the form hes currently in? Bloody Hughes. Surely TF cant sanction this?
As far as I know, that's the price of his release clause, and Hughes will already know that! If I'm right then there isn't a lot we can do if he wants to go......
I wasnt aware of the buy out clause. Thats a bit useless isnt it? Hoillett was quite vocal earlier this year saying he should stay in the Prem - if stoke meet the release clause and his wage demands is there anything we can do? Be interesting to see if he plays today
Sad as it is to say - if a player does not want to stay get rid end of story - he is Hughes man anyway
He has a hamstring injury and so won't be playing; nothing that wouldn't stop him passing a medical at QPR though....
I have to say that I was wondering whether our new acquisition was a replacement for him. Will be disappointed if true.
Presumably the only way we could get him to come in the first place was by agreeing to this clause, just as with Remy and the relegation clause. Yes it will be disappointing if he goes on this season's form, but if that is the only way we can get these players to sign in the first place, so be it. I wouldn't be too quick to link the arrival of Phillips with a possible departure of Hoilett, there is a lot of paper talk that comes to nothing and a lot of enquires that simply peter out.
I am always sceptical when players start playing really well, especially when the transfer window is open. cant see hoilett going, but he did come to rangers to play in the prem,
£7 million would give us a profit on a player who failed miserably at the top level for us. He's never really settled here and if he does want to go then let him as long as we invest that money in the team...
The Sparky regime snuffed the life out of him last season....This season he has worked hard and seems to get on with McLaren....and is doing well. A sensible person, would ignore Stoke and the Prem (or he might be in YET another relegated team ...... a sensible person...would worry about his ability to demote teams). A sensible person would work hard to get his form back and to have a half decent season That is what a sensible person would do.....that is if all footballers weren't just money grabbers (not that Junior is badly paid here either)
