The last time I was in Paulo's (or Old Custom House, as us from Hull like to call it) Norman 'Fatboy Slim' Cook was in there. Eating soup. I personally think it's a pricey for average food...but what do I know?? Are you still here? Surely you must be staying for the game?
Eating soup? Do you eat soup? I always assumed you drank soup. Off a spoon mind but its not actually eating is it? Unless its one with chunky veg in, but honestly, real men only drink tomato soup, or chicken soup if they're poorly and their mams made it for them, with 2 slices of white buttered bread. Maybe a little grated cheddar (on the tommy soup only ofc). The rest of the range of soups is either tree hugging veggie hippy crap, or stew. Party you do start some debates off lad. You're like a quandry magnet.
I think it's eating personally. If you were to lift the bowl to your mouth and slurp it down, I'd call that drinking. I think the act of using cutlery to raise mouth-sized portions to one's laughing gear constitutes eating, whether chewing is involved or not. I don't like to get technical if I can help it, I tend to glaze over when that happens, but that's the distinction I'd make. Cutlery = eating. Slurping = drinking. Discuss.
Hmm, this is where we start seeing a crossover. Some may still put a spoon in their mug. I've seen it, I'm not saying it's right... I think if you're sophisticated, you'll eat it. If you're an uncouth commoner, you'll drink it. How about that!
There's also another problem with the comparison between mug and bowl, which is you can get cup'a'soup, which I would definitely consider as drinking, whether spooned out of the mug or not. Is gravy a drink?
