David Moyes ,the world class manager that he is, has stated he would find it very hard not to sell his best players to UTd had he still been in charge and that he feels for Martinez. After all he's a classy guy apparently..... I'm sure the toffees are grateful for the advice but perhaps are scratching their collective heads wondering why then did he fight tooth and nail in exactly the same scenario for Lescott. Why did he disrupt his sides preseason then to block a similar move? could it be he's always been a Utd stooge and rather than fight for 26mil he wanted to block a rival to utd... cos frankly he disrupted Everton so badly then that they were very poor right up to January that year. Could it be perhaps double standards? SHOCK!!! Or of course really classy talking about transfers so openly, perhaps mourinho's "i'm not talking about out of respect BUT" policy has got under his skin
The 28m offer for both players was at best an insult to Everton at worst he was tempting a transfer request to force a lower transfer fee for one, Fellaini, cos I think he did not want to trigger the release clause but wanted him for a bit cheaper than that, he know when it expired. I have to ask what's with the cheap skating by United at this point the club have a bunch of new deals and surely plenty of cash no doubt so am wondering if Moyes hasn't shook his austere outlook from 10 years at Everton. He has stuck a finger in Everton's eye though, not respectful at all
release clause is very publicly expired. bidding after certianly = trying to get him cheap.... he's at utd he needs to wake the f up and see that cheap skating will get him nowhere.
Ok. If you feel down about Willian, Henry Ryan or Costa, just remember our champions over there have failed just as much as we have.
Why would he intentionally wait for the release clause to expire? That clause doesn't stop Everton from selling cheaper if they wished.
They don't want to sell him so that would drive the fee up, but if Moyes lets the clause expire and puts in a low offer to show real interest then Fellaini might put in a request which would theoretically drive the fee down. Fellaini has not expressed a desire to leave and not forced Everton's hand much to Moyes dismay.
I knew **** all about his guy tbh. Not enough to want to spend that kind of money and his wages would be high for sure. There's better value out there I'm sure.
Moyes' handling of the Baines and Fellaini bids has been absolutely disgraceful. Either he was scum all along but didn't have the fincancial power to show it, or he has cracked massively under the pressure of being out of his depth.
Everton will have their valuation whether there is a release clause or not. I would imagine Everton are happier to negotiate now the release clause has expired because they value Felliani higher than the clause amount. I also think Man Utd will have to pay more than the reported £23m/£24m clause too; the £28m they offered for both Felliani and Baines might get them the former. If I use Suarez has an example. If £40m had been a release clause valuation, we wouldn't have been happy to lose him for that amount considering most of us value him at £60m+. However, there would have been little we could do about it. No clause means we don't have to sell. This is exactly where Everton are with Felliani.
I am of the same opinion...but I do find it funny that spurs lost out at the last minute a bit of karma for what they did to us (not that I was bothered as I dont rate Dempsey anyway)
Dude, I am talking about United trying to wrangle Fellaini for less than the clause by letting it expire and then attempting to get him to put in a transfer request by making the joke offer. This is pretty much about Moyes trying to get Fellaini cheaper than the release clause OR Everton's evaluation, emphasis on trying, that is widely accepted as the reason he made such a silly offer but unfortunately for United and Moyes Fellaini has not put in a transfer request which would have enabled United to try bargain. Explaining the simplicity of a release clause it has nothing to do with what I'm talking about. The topic is Classy moyes being underhanded
I just don't see how they could possibly think they would get the player cheaper by letting the release clause expire. All and sundry expect Everton to hold out for £30m, why let a £23m/£24m release clause expire?
may i just offer one final point before i go. moyes commented that he's is talking to kenwright all the time yet he "feels" for martinez. To everyone else at everton this means moyes is going right over the managers head to kenwright to do the deal and to the two players they should now know no matter what martinez says to them... it doesn't matter kenwright will decide. in short moyes just undermined the new man and i for one hope his "legacy" at everton is 10 years of stagnation. I hope martinez shoves it up his hole by playing lovely football and acheiving something (jus tnot at our expense) a cup or two would stick it to the soon to be ex-utd manager
I think if Fellaini said under no circumstances do I want to play another game for Everton and United only offered 20 million and not a penny more Everton have a choice to make, but that sits atop the theory that Fellaini would go that far after having his head turned by the lure of Champions League football and a shot at winning the league. So I am not stating anything as fact but merely assuming Moyes is being austere over the whole thing when he could have easily triggered the clause, why else let it expire unless you don't want to pay the 24 million. Otherwise all he ahd to do was bid the fee when the clause was still in effect and then only had Fellaini to convince. I believe he tried to unsettle him and unsettled players who want out generally go for cheaper I am thinking, I do not have stats though Tevez went quite cheaply for 13 million and Arsenal tried to cheap out with +1 and hoped an unsettled Suarez would force the deal through
Moyes is an awful manager and it's quite pathetic that it has become so obvious that he is just a puppet and Fergie is still doing the work. Got to laugh at Moyes trying to do mind games with Mourinho Quite embarrassing really.
But by letting the release clause expire he has backed to self into a corner /shot his self in the foot IMO PS...I know your not saying its fact, its just thoughts and opinions
Maybe you can shed some like on why he let the clause expire and offered 28 million for both? Or why do you think Moyes did that? I think it was to unsettle Fellaini and get his as cheaply as possible. Can't see any other reason tbh
TBH, I have no idea. Maybe they preferred Fabregas? Maybe there was an agreement between Man Utd and Everton saying that he couldn't go back in for one of the players (aka Rodgers and Swansea) until a set date (would be a strange time frame though) Basically, I don't disagree with what you are saying, I just don't think letting the release clause expires makes any sense.
