Managers and players have been using the fortress term for a few years now. Who decided to use that stupid term.

To me a fortress means not to allow anybody in.
Therefore, the away team can't get in the ground and therefore no match is played and therefore no points are gained.

I am not having a go at NP by the way.

If all teams had a fortress, every team in the league would gain the same amount of points (cause they would all win their home matches) and it would come down to goal difference on who went up.

PS well done to your good start this season.

For you to think like that and then type it out means you have too much time on your hands <ok>

Yes, but if the opposition fails to appear on the pitch at the appointed kick-off time, then we automatically get three points and the opposition get nothing, plus face the prospect of having points deducted. So I think this is an excellent idea.

Interpretation: "Sports Journalist struggles for copy in face of Leicester's lack of signings".

There should be a thread for the really obvious things managers and players say. Post-match interviews are an absolute goldmine.

This just in from pre match press conference at Highbury: Arsene Wenger would really like to gain a victory when Arsenal play Tottenham this weekend, but reiterates that it will be difficult to do so.
