No way, football or as the septics call it soccer,is the most popular game in the world.
    Leave it alone.

Even if you take out of the equation that too much fiddling with technology might ruin the game, there's no way that ref cam is viable without some sort of stabilisers on it. Can't see **** all.

Surely by now we should be able to create a steadycam that can be head mounted?

Without stabilisers this idea is entirely useless, due to the referee running it's impossible to make out anything that is happening.

Exactly,I've worked in the film industry for 20 years and never seen a steadycam that doesn't need hands.
But I just asked a mate who works in the camera department, will update when he answers.

No,there are hand held steady cams,it's fixed on a harness with either flexible arms or a cable so it 'floats'
Very technical job and they are also very heavy, you sometimes see them on the sides of footie pitches.
The new floaty stuff are drones, miny battry powered helicopters, kin amazing, but cant see them working in a footie stadium.unlees they were really high, then losing the point.

I personally think it would be great for when the ref is stationary - e.g. red-carding someone. Lipreading would be exceleent fun!

I'm just being a little light hearted with this. Don't think it'll ever be seriously considered. Then again, if they want to get rid of swearing in football, it would be a great tool. That & miking up all the players. You don't get away with swearing in the likes of tennis after all!

    Personally, I love swearing! <rofl>

Just got a reply from my mate,he's never heard of a head steadycam,he works in camera and was on the last messi add, about a month ago.
As for swearing, bring it on,football, drinking, swearing, that's whats it all about,if you don't like it go watch tennis.
