While the window is still open with 10 days left to go, it is increasingly unlikely we will sign anyone our squad which according to DM while it is full of quality, nevertheless is one he wishes to strengthen.

So whose fault is it? Is it Ed Woodward who looks like an ever geeker Ian Hislop (if that is even possible?)

Or is it David Moyes, the man selected by the legend SAF to take over.

    I know who I blame.

first one, we should've kept Gill, we would've signed Fellaini and Baines if he was still our chief excutieve this summer.

Franco Baldini is the technical director at Spurs and the guy reckoned to be the reason why they are being so successful in signing players. So the answer is yes.

Thanks, Woodward should swap roles with Gill.

It does make you wonder who we would have signed had SAF and Gill still been at the front of things, but that's something we will never know now.

Think it's a little bit of both tbh. Both of them are inexperienced at this level of the transfer window. The only thing we need is to strengthen the midfield, we have quality and depth everywhere else around the pitch. Then you have to look at whose available in that position and whose good enough to actually improve us. There really aren't many options, the only I think we could really be disappointed with would be Strootman. Had we made an actual offer, he would have never picked Roma over us.

Can agree with some of that, Strootman mentioned talking with the Roma coach as part of the reason he signed. Can't see Moyes being much of a sweet talker, neither was Fergie but Fergie's record said all that was needed to be said

I think the problem is the players who would improve the squad have so for been not for sale. That's because they're good players who would fit into a title winning squad, not players whose current clubs are keen to offload them. We won the league by a significant margin so the players we have can't be all that bad. Buying inferior players to appease the fans would be pointless.

United have tended to sign players that have either proven themselves in the PL or who aren't a massive financial gamble if they turn out to be ****e or unsuited to the PL. Fergie got lambasted for spending £18million on a proven PL player like Carrick whereas fans and the media soil themselves about unproven PL signings like Robinho.

I don't think it's surprising that the club actually bid for Fabregas but never actually made a formal offer for Thiago Alcantara.

I do know what you are trying to say with regard to size of transfer fees, but lets remember Moyes has been a premier league manager for a decade and is no novice in trying to wheel and deal. Woodard however is another story.

Yeah but Fergie had to earn that record and still managed to sign players along the way. Moyes has managed to sign players at Everton in the past so something else is wrong.

Moyes had a reputation as a ditherer at Everton, all of our deals seem to be stop / start & take forever. A large proportion of the fanbase blamed the board, but the fact that we signed 4 players in a week at the start of this window, might suggest the blame lay elsewhere......

I know for a fact, that there's agents who consider Moyes to be "hard work".

But he did well on a budget so must be able to spot a player.

Yes, he had a great eye for a player & certainly knew how to maximise his budget, but he was indecisive at times.

Personally if agents don't like Moyes then thats good for football considering they are leeches. I didn't watch Everton's transfers over the years in too great detail so I cannot comment on how fast Moyes operated. http://www.soccerbase.com/teams/team.sd?team_id=942&teamTabs=transfers gives you some idea however of the players he signed.
