Indeed. If it means less game time for Hazard, Oscar and Mata then i'm all for him going there as i'm almost certain those players are better.
Pic here of him in training. It may be my imagination, but his face looks thinner to me? Maybe he has gained somefitness despite the injury? https://twitter.com/AddictedtoSpurs/status/370911642126942208/photo/1
If you were Daniel Levy, how would you word the email to Real Madrid, telling them that the transfer was probably off because of the situation with Willian ? (open question)
I like this game: I would of course wait until they'd called a press conference, put him on the website and erected that little podium to show him off
If Willian is going to Chelsea, after getting that far with us, they are welcome to him. He's a good player, but in the space of just a few hours, he's added more negativity to his reputation. For the last few years, he's been at S.Donetsk... but why? Then he moves to Anzhi.. why? It's clearly to do with money. The guy is talented enough to play for much better clubs than that who are also in the CL, and have a stronger domestic league. But he clearly doesn't give a **** who he plays for. Money first, with CL being the other factor after money. We already have Adebayor who is a mercenary. As some people know, he spent last season seeing how much he could piss off AVB and tried to rack up as many club fines as possible. Dickhead! the sooner he ****s off, the better. We want players who want to play football for us. Like I said, willian is a decent player. But his attitude towards football and his own career is sad really. As a result, he's only got 2 national caps, which says it all. £30million is a lot (unfortunately the going rate in today's market) and we wouldn't have dreamt of paying that, had the money not come from the sale of Bale. Chelsea are welcome to him. I have no idea how they will accommodate him though. This could be a blessing in disguise for us.
I think the thing about Shakthar Donetsk Roo is that they have a great record of South American, particularly Brazilian talent coming there and then the club making a huge profit on them. Someone posted on here recently (apologies for not remembering who or where) about them and the likes of Porto in Portugal being the well known and favoured routes into European football for players like Willian. So it may be a little unfair to pull him up for going to Shakhtar. I'm in full agreement on the rest of his career though
I don't get why any talented Brazilian would go to the Ukraine. The money must have been pretty decent. What appeal is there for anyone to play in the Ukraine or Russia? Don't tell me that as a footballer growing up they dream of playing there. It doesn't wash with me I'm afraid. To be fair, It's not exactly Willian's fault. it's his agents. But he goes along with it anyway.
Normally I would agree but we do need such a player, and if paying over the odds is the only way to secure such player, I wouldn't mind. Plus it does send of strong statement of intent from Spurs! There are indeed better players out there for far cheaper money (Capue was only £9m) so over to Baldini now...
It depends on how you view Willlian, if you think he will be effective as a no.10 then he could be just the advanced playmaker we need, but a lot of the time I've heard him referred to as a winger which to me isn't an area of the squad that needs strengthening, or at least certainly not for an outlay of £30 million. Lets let Baldini get to work though, agreed.
I don't think the club has officially announced this , but Falque has gone on loan to Rayo Vallecano.
Another way to look at it is the fees being touted for other targets: Lamela + Pjanic = £31m + £13m Eriksen = £8m (+ £7m for Alderweireld) Although if we were to sign the Ajax pair, that would logically mean we'd only be in for Lamela.
Top half La Liga side, but utterly skint. Denied a UEFA license for European games, as their finances are so up the creek. With regards to Willian alternatives, we've also been linked to Adem Ljajić. As have Liverpool.
Alderwiereld + Eriksen + Lamela would still be spectacular and we have cash left over + a CB compared to Lamela + Willian
I'd love Eriksen at the club, especially for that price, but I was under the impression that Eriksen was out of the question because he wants CL football. Don't tell Chelsea...
