And you thought you was a diehard fan......

Animal rights campaign group PETA appeal to Uefa president Michel Platini to ban the ritual slaughter of animals in European football.

The call for action follows the killing of a sheep by Kazakh side Shakhter Karagandy before their home Champions League play-off match against Celtic.

"We are deeply disturbed that a sheep was stabbed to death in an attempt to bring good luck to the Kazakh team," says PETA associate director Mimi Bekhechi in a letter to Platini.

Unless you're going to kill an animal to eat it and use it's skin, pelt, oils etc. Then I think stabbing an animal to death at a football match in the hope that it will bring good luck is pretty wrong. The only thing PETA have got wrong here is using Michel ****ing Foie Gras Platini as an ambassador.

Totally agree, stabbing a sheep for a football match is totally wrong.

Pretty sure the idea of animal rights doesn't exist in Kazakhstan

I don't think we should push our values on other cultures. If it's normal for them to sacrifice an animal to the gods, who are we to tell them not to? We were doing the same not long ago, and many other cultures still do it. PETA are a bunch of cultural fascists masquerading as liberals. If you ever talk to one of those nutbags, ask how far they'd go to protect an animal. Some of them value animals more than human life. They have a screw loose.

It disgusts me that anyone would want to harm one of God's beautiful four legged wooly creatures

The Daily Telegraph's Ben Rumsby: "Mourinho on sparkling form here. On Tottenham's pursuit of Willian: 'That's the danger of medicals before contracts'. Mourinho on if Willian is about to sign: 'We have to do a medical'."

    Classic!

The medical would appear to be a formality being that Willian has already passed one at the spuds

He's taking the piss out of Spurs. But seriously, Chelsea don't even need the man and Willian would be stupid to go there. Not that I want him at Spurs but Chelsea already have enough Willian type players and it would probably mean him being on the bench.

On the future of Brazil midfielder Willian: "The Anzhi Makhachkala attacking midfielder is now in talks to join Chelsea. The 25-year-old completed a medical with Tottenham earlier this week and Spurs were fully expecting to make him their fifth major summer signing.

"But Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich intervened, using his contacts at Anzhi to offer a similar fee to Tottenham but with more lucrative add-ons.

"Willian has not yet agreed personal terms but he is on course to join the Blues, where he is attracted by the chance to play Champions League football, compete for the Premier League title and work under Jose Mourinho."

You think Levi has pissed Abe off or somthing?
