Lampard's passing is actually really good and I've seen him spray passes all around the pitch that have opened up defences. Maybe a younger Lampard didn't do it so much, I can't really remember. Paulinho certainly seems to have that knack of getting into the box and getting chances like Lampard though.

If we miss out on Willian then maybe Eriksen wouldn't be so bad a choice. Have him and Holtby competing for a number 10 role with Chadli, Lennon, Townsend and Lamela(fingers crossed) as our options on the wing. I'm not going to comment on Sigurdsson anymore as I feel I've been too negative on him considering he's still our player and if he stays he can still play a part in those positions mentioned.

Gareth Bale's proposed world-record move to Real Madrid has temporarily been put on hold, according to Press Association Sport.

Reports had suggested that the Tottenham forward would finalise a £93m transfer to the Spanish capital on Friday. But Press Association Sport is reporting that Spurs are unwilling to sanction Bale's move until they have signed at least one new player to fill the Welshman's position.

So who do we want to 'fill the Welshman's position'?

  10. I suspect it's more to to do with the Chavs scuppering our purchase of Willian. Perhaps Levy's plan was to get a certain set of players in to cover Bale and is in no need to compromise if his plan is scuppered, even in part.

I can imagine that Levy takes few prisoners in negotiations, whether you are Real Madrid or a mere Chelsea.

In response to your new sig, as i normally just hang out here i sometimes forget for an utter WUM peskie is. Should a "mod" really be using the terms "Spuds"? I don't see (i don't think) our mods behaving so poorly, they leave that to the rest of us

If Mou stops Bale going to Madrid by spending £30 mill of Abramovic's money on a player Chelsea don't actually need...I may explode with joy and laughter! If you asked me if I wanted Bale or Paulinho, Chadli, Soldado, Capoue, Willian and/or Lamela then I'd take the latter no questions asked at this point. However if its between Bale and Willian and/or Lamela then I choose the Welshman every time, and I think this is the question that has to be considered as the previous signings are accounted for financially. I still don't believe all this crap about this being "Bale's dream move" and I truly think that he's happy to stay if we're happy to have him now that we've shown serious ambition in the transfer market, and that he'll continue to be happy at the club so long as he doesn't fall out with the management and we press on and get CL football and challenge for trophies in the near future. Its so difficult to speculate now as so much seems to depend on things going on behind closed doors that neither us fans or the media see coming sometimes - like the Willian to Chelsea twist that has apparently taken place. The past few days I've been resigned to waking up and seeing Bale in a Real Madrid shirt and then us signing one or two players for £30 million (way over the odds for Willian or Lamela who, while good players and Lamela being an excellent prospect, are NOT worth more than Soldado for example) but now things are perhaps looking up thanks to the most unlikely hero! May we live in interesting times eh?

It's likely a chain - Willian joins Spurs, Bale joins Real Madrid, Coentrao joins Spurs.

...although it current stands at Willian is prostituting himself to Chelsea, Bale is staying put, Coentrao is staying put.

With goals getting smashed in from inside the box (Soldado + Paulinho) and from outside the box by Rose/Townsend/Bale we might not need a playmaker.
Who needs a playmaker when you can just kick it in the goal instead of to a teammate?

Jose has just confirmed that Willian is likely to join us.

Wonder who you will go for next? Still seems likely Bale will go but presume you'll want a replacement first (and without being stung too much on price!!)

Do you see any way that he will get games for you. For 2/3 places you have Mata, Hazard, Oscar, Schurrle, Van Bruyn and now Willian? I really don't get the need, other than trying to upset us? Strange way to spend £32m?

Was disappointed with losing out to Willian but after reading the quotes from Moron-ho I am raging.

'We should learn to do our medicals in secret' who the **** does he think he is. Talking about ethics the other day and he pulls this stunt.

No dignity, respect or professionalism and then jokes about it.

I would rather the gooners win the league than that arrogant little ****. I hope he gets his comeuppance.

I was a bit miffed when they snaffled Oscar who we had been tracking - mind you weren't we tracking Hazard first too? This Will.I.An deal is surely a 'just because we can' option, prompted mainly to avoid a benefit to us rather than achieve a benefit to them? Surely one of the more unsavoury aspects of having too much money. No doubt Pool supporters will argue that we hijacked the willian deal from them, but (1) I believe we were after him first and (2) we were after him because we want him, not just to stop Pool from having him!
