He almost certainly will, given that if Spurs keep Bale on top of all the players they have bought they would have an outstanding chance of qualifying for the CL this year. An extra £40m in CL cash, plus the chance of displacing Arsenal in the CL, plus the chance of Bale changing his mind, plus still getting a big fee for Bale if he wants to move next season.

Besides which, it's not like Real will suddenly lower their offer by a massive amount if Bale has two years left on his contract. What are the chances of them being willing to wait until 2016 to try and sign him on a free?

Not so much annoyance, just the fact that they've lost their main replacement for Bale.

It's a very different situation to be in saying "let's replace this world class player with a good quality replacement and spend loads of money on strengthening our team" than to be saying "right, we've strengthened our team but are now going to undo all our good work by losing our world class player without a good quality replacement"

Real won't want him next summer. The President will have another pet project by then.

Not sure I believe that, but all the better for Spurs in that case. If the Real interest goes away, then Bale is less likely to force a move. I doubt Utd would have been particularly pissed off if Real stopped chasing Ronaldo after three seasons.

Probably Hazard by then, wouldn't surprise me if he goes there at some point.

Ronaldo is a freakishly good player who always made it clear he wanted to end up in Spain and ideally at Real.

    Will he **** as like.

The money on the table for Bale will never be repeated & everyone (including Levy) knows it.

The deal is already done in any case, it's only been held back whilst he spent the windfall, as he's shrewd.

If Willian does join Chelsea it might delay the Bale deal for another few days whilst a replacement is sought, but there's no chance it'll derail it.

I do not think that Levy would have spent all this money without knowing that he is getting at least the same amount in return. Bale staying another season may not bring the money. Anything can happen to him. He may havean awful season showing that he is a mere mortal.

In Bale, Spurs have a rare opportunity to massively strengthen their team, even beyond the likes of Arsenal. I used to think that Spurs were still slightly behind the scousers in terms of strength and ability to attract the top names. Now no doubt, Spurs are well ahead. In fact we probably now have a group of 5 - United, City, Chavs, Arsenal and Spurs. 6th for the scousers then!! <ok>

The rent boys have signed him for 30 million, subject to a work permit.

Doesn't really follow mate. If Spurs don't spend another £60m this window then they won't have spent the full £93m they are rumoured to be getting from Real. With Willian now out of the picture, they would need to move fast if they're actually to spend any of the money from Bale, and not just risk throwing away the gold plated opportunity Arsenal are giving them to get top 4.

Whilst Levy is a tight negotiator, he is usually willing to sanction spending to strengthen the team. I think it's less likely he'd be willing to let Bale leave without a full complement of replacements, remembering how badly they went down the pan after Berbatov and Keane left for big money without adequate replacements in summer 08.

My point was that Levy having spent so much already meant that he has already decided to sell Bale for a huge amount of money. It is a once in a lifetime opportunity for Spurs and there was no way they were going to let it go.
