    Both outstanding tonight in Europe

We did not have any choice with Townsend......but Routledge should have been/could have been ours

And you can add Scott Sinclair to that list. The poor lad must be atrophying.

If you really want to dig up the past, how about Paulo Wanchop being released then went on to score silly amounts for Derby!?

I saw routledge play for ffc about 6 years ago, he looked lively, but a bit of a headless chicken, he never scored a goal in the prem for us, and I thought he would never cut it, how wrong was I? wish we bought and developed him

Bastards. Routledge not being made permanent was the first sign that something was afoot.

The wouldn't put their hands in their pockets as they were already negotiating the sale of the club. Buying Routledge would have increased the debt (or reduced the cash) in the company and added a large commitment to the wage bill. That might have scuppered the sale and, despite what we have been through in the last 2 years, left us with T and C for a lot longer. They needed to sell just as the Rs were promoted to the Prem. Relegation a year later would have (and has done) devalue company and they would have lost out if they sold.

We had him for a month on trial before Stuart Huston (I think) decided he wasn't good enough!
