By all accounts it was men against boys size wise apart from the Algerian chap we've got who is massive! I suspect they were quite tough in the tackle and pretty physically too..
If I'm not mistaken and if we are to have a genuine push for promotion.........then Sundays game is a "must win" game. Forest MUST be beaten, a draw or loss would be damaging to us.
I don't think any game at this point of the season is a 'must win'. Look how we started last season and still pushed for automatic right until the last game. What is preferable is we don't let one team get a decent lead on anyone like Cardiff did. A couple of times teams were getting close but the gap was just too much and it became a battle for 2nd in the end. Obviously want to win Sunday, but would still take a draw
To be serious about promotion every game must be like a wembley final because last season we failed due to complacency. No mercy, put every team to the sword like Bournemouth
I think we are getting that way, defensively better apart from set pieces & corners - needs work here and also the continental slow start syndrome. Goals are flowing so far which is nice to see.
Talking of Bournemouth, I wonder what team GZ will play against them next Wednesday? Bond in goal, probably the Algerian, then I suppose it depends on who plays on Sunday. It would be extremely embarrassing for them if we managed to win 6-1 again.
The WO is pointing out that the Janmashtami Festival is on at the same time as the Bournemouth game. Am I correct in thinking this is a Hare Krishna festival? If so, it creates wonderful images of the mingling of people going to the two events. Imagine what it could have been like if we had been drawn against certain other teams. Shows the power of prayer.
I think we won away at a certain Crystal Palace first game last season - that ruined their season then We did not fail through complaceny but because our team took a month or two to gel in the first place due to the number of newcomers and also probably because we tired towards the end of the season. I did not see any complacency in our play
Maybe not complacency, but we were certainly guilty on several occasions of taking our foot off the pedal - away at Wolves springs to mind.
You could be right Barry but I wonder whether it was possible last year for our tired players to perform 100% all the time towards the end -the other clubs around us suffered similar setbacks - nerves, tiredness and pressure take their toll. This year I hope we get as far ahead if not further than Cardiff did.
there's a few more teams this season that will be serious contenders imho, i can't see a clear runner happening this season, though i'd be thrilled if there was one, and it was us!
Robert Louis Stevenson said "it is better to travel hopefully than to arrive! I travel hopefully I know opposing fans will just say it is arrogance but I honestly think our squad and manager are by far the best in this division this season. If we were Leeds, Leicester or Nottingham Forest with this line up I think the bookies would have closed the book on us now. As it is we are little old Watford so not to be taken seriously.
Or high level of confidences but we still have to prove it on the pitch for 90 minutes if we are SO much better than anyone else. The 3 performances have been quite varied - certainly attacking wise we are up there but the defence probably isn't (yet) Anyway well done to Anya who has been called up for the Scotland squad - good to see his massive improvements over the past few months been recognised. Mind you if he wants to play in a World cup Nigeria might be his best bet.
Any sign of activity around the East Stand yet? Club wanted to start removing it on the 19th August, but the council wanted more information. Hope that Mr Planner is back from his holiday soon.
No visibility of any changes in The East Stand last night OFH - perhaps they are waiting for Mr Planner to go on holiday before having a "little accident" with a bulldozer?
Might be a bit quieter on the training ground. http://www.watfordobserver.co.uk/sport/watfordfc/watfordfcnews/10642974._/ Hopefully all 7 come back fit.
