"I dread to imagine what the atmosphere will be like at WHL in the 2nd leg."

Think the U21 game at Underhill and the Barca Nextgen game proved you
don't need a full house to lift the team.

however, If you're a right back and you see Sig warming up, you're safe to chill out for the rest of the game, as your centre back will be be dealing with him. <laugh>

The main advantage Townsend has over Lennon is a bit more strength IMO, probably helps that he's over half a foot taller. I think that helps him get past his man sometimes, Lennon sometimes gets slowed down/hindered by a close defender which means he struggles to get going occasionally, Townsend I reckon has that bit extra to shrug his man off so he can really dominate the footrace as well. He also carries far more of a direct goal threat and given the way he plays - cutting in from the right - that makes him more effective. Lennon might have a bit of pace over him but I think it's marginal in that regard, anyway Townsend's speed strikes me as being more like Walker's or Bale's, in that he takes a little longer to get up to top speed, whereas Lennon is straight there.

If Townsend really breaks through this year though you have to start wondering if Lennon will stick around and fight for his place or if he'll go for more football and push for a move...

I have found the matchday atmosphere at the Lane very disappointing recently and I expect next Thursday to be no different.

I do take your point though, although I will say the so called great atmosphere at Underhill, was considerably spoilt by the foul mouthed language from the 1882 lot.

I must have tried 5 times to post my gag about Pulis highlighting a diamond of 4 players and calling it a triangle <steam>

No Lineker is better. Whilst Berbatov is one of the best players I've ever seen, Lineker is a better comparison imo. And talking of Lineker, I'm pretty sure Harry Kane has modelled himself on him. Several times now he has done something that looked exactly like him.

Agreed (especially if you are trying to encourage kids to attend etc) .
But I put that down to the Gooners being the opponent.
They were ok at the Everton U21 game, and everyone remarked on their singing
    at the Barca Nextgen game.

Because we are now at the business end of the PL table, the anxiety on each
result at WHL becomes more evident (we become the very thing about our rival
    supporters that we mock/detest) .

It doesn't augur well for a 55,000 seater WHL though, does it.

Resisted the urge to repeatedly punch Mark Lawrenson in the face?

Alright, one thing would be the thing Lineker did where he was waiting for a cross and he'd kind of go down on his haunches a bit backing away from a player. Another would be the way he lost his man today for a header. And there's at least one more thing that I can't remember where he just looked like a carbon copy of him. I'm not saying he's in the same class at all (I don't even particularly rate him), but there are some similarities.

The problem against Utd was tha their ability to take their chances and defend was on another level to us, as we more than matched them around the park with the ball. Hopefully we will have learnt from our defensive errors and will be more clinical in front of goal otherwise it could be a very similar result.

By the way, given your new signings, what do you think will be a good season for you? I think you are a shoe in for top 4 atm and could win one of the cups or Europa League this season (especially if you sign Willian)

  20. If Bale stays, we'll be challenging for the title. If, as is now fully expected by almost every sensible Spurs fan, he leaves for Real, I'd be happy with 4th, and I foresee Arsenal finally being booted out of the Sky "big 4" club.

I think the waiting world is about to witness the North London Power-Shift.

    Trust me on this.
