Speaking as a senior conspirator in the Chadli knee-jerk reaction brigade I would like to say his cross for Soldado's second was perfect. And on his weaker foot. I might even consider him a better option for the left than Siggy. There's praise for you!
Don't worry - either demand for them will increase hugely in the coming weeks or, hopefully, if we sit on them for a year or two we can flog them as collectors items and curiosities. Like the "We'll Never Win With Bale" ones we shifted a couple of years ago. We'll get our money back.
I still think his off the ball work reminds me of teddy, but it's clear he'll score more goals. A cross between teddy and jurgen?
The best partnership I've personally seen at the lane. It's a shame 442 died as we don't see strike partnerships that often, it's all lone strikers but if Soldado has aspects of teddy and Jurgen then he will be a bit special.
We get the best of both and an extra player on the pitch! Winning. Totally agree re. partnerships. I even enjoyed Quinn and Phillips.
Is it surprising? Spurs won well - and you can only beat the opposition in front of you - but there is little sense of "competition" at this stage. There are a lot of poor sides in the EL at present. These games are like pre-season friendlies - which might be fine early in the season, but when your players have an extra 15 games in their legs next April, it becomes a definite disadvantage. The format is rubbish. I know UEFA want to widen participation - and raise more revenue, but a 32 (or at a stretch 64) team straight knockout is what's needed
I think the Europey is proving to be ideal for us, allowing us to get our key new signings to gel in competitive games away from the Prem, as well as allowing us to bring in our kiddies for some much needed experience of the limelight.
No one liked Keane and Berbs then? I only saw the second half, and assumed we were as good in the first, but sounds like I came in at the right time. Good to see Adros play well, I have to say I really cannot see Lennon in front of him any more, I've never seen lennon outpace anyone like that, cross it like that, or finish like that....and he did it all in one game. To be in the front three you need all those attributes and I think Chadli and Townsend have it. Lennon and Gylfi have some elements, but not all. If we sign willian then I think either Gylfi or lennon will be sold. It is sad to think that in the space of 12months we could have seen the departures of the following players: King Modric Van Der Vaart Bale Lennon Defoe Thud Bennie *Dawson (nearly) That is a alot of changes. Hopefully we will get CL and some of these guys will stick around.
Tonight's games have highlighted what a farce this competition is. The early stages are nothing more than an extension of pre season. I dread to imagine what the atmosphere will be like at WHL in the 2nd leg.
Aye, but what fantastic back-ups, eh! We have Chadi and Townsend to terrorize the opposition for 70 mins, and then when their RB and LB are completely shagged, we bring on Siggy and Lennon!
Agreed SC. Although tbf it seems to have worked quite well for us, what with all these new faces. Next week could be a good opportunity for Lamela and Willian should the sign, as well as Carrol, Kane, Naughton etc. I think (I would hope) if we have enough kids and new guys on the pitch giving 100% then the crowed will get right behind them.
Exactly, if we do not get both Willian/Lamela I would be happy enough with Lennon and Gylfi as subs. Imagine being a LB on a yellow and seeing him warming up!
