ESPN Staff August 21, 2013 If you click here you would see the article – http://www.gptoday.com/full_story/view/461162/Spa_the_hardest_track_for_Renault/
I really think the writer or Renault Sport F1 head of track operations Remi Taffin, who was being interviewed, should have cleared that up a bit so we wouldn't go out in search of something that isn't there. When you say things like that people will start to speculate...that is normal human reaction I guess. Maybe Allsaintchris will give up his take too.
These are some questions and and replies that were asked and given by readers on that site: 1: A simulator is fine for throttle, but how do they simulate the compression in Eu Rouge, and twisty bits? 2: And how is this possible? Is it tested on the bench using the track simulation? 3: Naturally, its run on its test bed but with the throttle controlled as if it is in Spa. 4: "In fact the Energy F1-2014 Power Unit is being put through its paces at Spa as we speak." Where in the article does it say anything about using a dyno simulator? I would like to know which team (Red Bull) is doing the testing and with which chassis. So people are already questioning how is this really done. Maybe it was being tested in a 2011 car..lol
hmm reminds me of how they did this http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8DYl4mD_620 but yeah "at Spa" does strongly suggest on the actual track, otherwise why bring it there? But i doubt they really think about how people will analyse their exact words, they're probably too tired and excited from working on it.
You are right there... I work with a newspaper and I know how some people put you on the coals for some slip-ups. But would think that the Renault guy would have been a little more specific, especially with recent controversy. And as you just said "at Spa" gives the impression that he's talking about the actual track. If he had said a simulation of Spa track then there would be no reason to question or be confused with his statement. Well let's hear what the other members have to say... i guess when they wake up..lol.
Will Buxton - Interesting development at Spa. Drainage channels cut across first 5 grid rows. Should provide massive grip advantage to top 10 on grid.
Kovalainen to drive the Caterham in FP1 both in Spa and Monza, additionally Kimi is 'sick' so the media won't be able to ask him any questions about Red Bull/Ferrari. http://www.espn.co.uk/lotusf1/motorsport/story/121089.html
He certainly should be quizzed by the FIA as to what he meant by his comments or confirm that they were taken out of context. If it was simulator work, I'd have expected him to say it was so, unless he simply wishes to create a ****storm to get people talking and envoke another conversation about what is and isn't allowed as 'testing'
Kimi got the trotts? http://www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/109367 Might make him faster around Spa so he can get back into the pits quicker!?
seems like an odd thing to do, why not the whole grid? lol maybe they're trying to spread the grid out going into the first corner.
No repeat of the Red Bull/Pirelli fiasco this time hopefully: Pirelli/FIA are limiting camber to 3,5° front / 2,5° rear. (They test to 5°) Pressures not to exceed 18psi In other news Vettel has a thing for his trainer and has gone blonde (some of that may be made up) please log in to view this image Also it seems from this picture that Lotus have their pDRS un-blocked, although they may block it up later? please log in to view this image
I think Red Bull ran obscene camber for Spa and then said the tyres were dangerous. Was one of their weirdest complaints of the season
