The best curry I ever had was in Bridge of Weir - it was McCoist and Gazza's local at the time and had a wee picture of them up. It was called Shimla Cottage but it had nothing to do with the other Shimla restaurants around Glasgow. Don't know if auld Shafiq still owns that place or if it's still open but, **** me, whit a curry hoose
There's a curry hoose in Lenzie and it's ****ing magic. Raosi Quite expensive though to keep the Lenzie scumbags out <TREV>
I've been to quite a few in Glasgow but, for old fashioned British/Indian restaurants, the ones in Paisley are better. If you wanted something a bit different, the Curry Leaf on Byres Road was nice (think it's gone now - curry tapas). If you don't mind paying a bit more, the fancy arse ones in the merchant city is amazing - just don't eat their beef soup - blew my tits aff (can't remember both names, one was meant to be North Indian cooking - Dhabba, one South Indian)
I think parking in the city centre is free at the weekends, although like bib says, it's hardly a practical thing to do. Nightmare finding a spot to park in - ye hiv to drive around until ye get lucky.
Best one in town I think is Bombay Blues, on Hope Street near the tunnel at Central Station There is a great one in East Kilbride as well, Punjabi Tadka. I've got a loyalty card that gets me 25% off everything. Think they have one in town as well.
I've only been to Bombay Blues for a works Christmas curry do. It was pretty good considering that's probably the occasions where restaurants serve the slops. Wasn't that where the infamous curry night took place?
Nah that was Mr Singh's. When I went to Bombay Blues I filled my plate for the starters and someone pointed out that I was eating the Pudding dishes. That explains why they were so sweet.
