I don't believe for a second that the PR potential of yewtree is lost on the police at-all. They may of-course be missing the propensity for backlash if either celebs who retain latent popularity amongst significant demographic groups are successfully cast as victims of the investigation, or indeed if the general public suspect a witch-hunt.

To be fair, they're not new or indeed my own allegations.

The operative word there was "perhaps".

A quick google search will sort you out. :emoticon-0148-yes:

What was supposed to be frightening????

It might be your modus operandi here, but it certainly isn't mine.

He hasn't been proven to be innocent, the charges were dropped because there was insufficient evidence to secure a realistic chance of prosecution, there's a big difference.

He also still has another charge hanging over him.

He may well have not done anything but there's a difference between been found innocent by a jury of your peers and the charges dropped due to lack of evidence. Which makes it even more important to keep the identities of these people private and only name them if they are found guilty.

J.D. does not bother me one way or another. I enjoyed his time on the Generation Game and Big Break which is still being shown on the challenge channel.

One reason why the fuzz should keep peoples ID secret until convicted. Sadly we now live in a guilty until proven innocent country. <grr>

The accusations were made by women, not girls(at the time of the alleged offences, obviously).

I think that's probably why the case was dropped, they were claiming sexual assault, rather than being under age(as far as I'm aware).

No idea what they taught me at Law School then - not more than a hand full of years back. And, talking about this with someone who knows, only today was a "crime" recorded in a different county as a result of someone walking in to a police station in [somewhere down south] saying she had been abused when young by her dead relative - miles away from where she now lives. When asked why now: "just need it on record in case I go down the compensation route".

As for the law - don't presume I have no idea!!

If you sexually assault a woman then too right they can come back at you after all this time.

I think I need an eye test, as I swore that the thread title said Joy Division, not Jim Davidson...

"Love will tear us apart" might not be the most appropriate thing to say to a young woman.

I can recall, in fact it interrupts my dreams with regularity, being sexually interfered with by a rather pushy, yet tiddly young thing (there's the hint :emoticon-0103-cool: ) , yet I know to complain is futile. I'll live with it, but in the real world, sexual bullies should always be held to account.
