They can't wait, that's the point. If they get better and someone else nips in, we'll be slagging the club off for that. Do you think that while we're signing the potential stars, we've stopped looking for first team players? The two aren't mutually exclusive. I've said all summer it's easier to get the youngsters and we're building for the future so hopefully, we're not in this predicament further down the line. Yes, we need first teamers, but we may not find the right player at the right time for the right price and we have to come to terms with that. Tbh, we're just going round in circles with this argument.
Fair point. I think the general concern is that if we spend £10m on Will Hughes, will that affect our budget for first team targets?
For £10M you should want more than a 'if they get better' type player. Capoue cost Spurs £9M he's an established international level central midfielder.
Yes but he's not British. gotta remember the 100% British premium you have to ****ing pay. Hughs is worth £5m absolute bloody tops. £10m for a champ player is only something City should be doing
Yeah, I don't get the inflated British prices at all. Is there some logic behind it that I'm not seeing? Like player registration or something trite like that?
Pretty sure that the "Total" once certain conditions are meet will be £10m, I think the initial fee will be £6m which isn't too bad? Also, if those conditions are meet then it would mean he's turned into a bloody decent player!
isnt it because of the so many hope grown quota you need when in Europe, so as English players in general are **** the ones that are average go for the same price as decent players from abroad. sadly decent English players dont grow on trees like Spanish ones seem to, and if they did its biding starting at £15 mill probably, which is ****ing absurd.
SSN (Yes, I know..) saying there could be a twist in the Willian deal, however I don't think its us, I had heard on the twitter grape vine that he a team with CL may be turning his head, Arsenal are pretty much in the Group Stages and they are being rumoured to be in the running now.
wonder if Willain didn't go to Spurs who they would be looking at, **** us up though as we need a LF like they do. or would it stop them selling Bale?
Would be amazing if it was us but they mention CL and it definitely isn't us, might be Napoli I suppose, they're rumoured to be interested.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/sport/0/football/23795802 Inevitable Sky also reporting now that Bale deal is as imminent as ever.
You're right of course about the price, but that wasn't my point. I meant, if we don't buy them whilst we have the opportunity, and they then improve and another team steps in, we'll then berate the club for not buying at the right time. It's all guesswork. The decision makers are paid to make more right guesses than wrong. Let's hope they do.
Ladbrokes ‏@Ladbrokes 8m WILL.I.NOT: News in that Spurs bound Willian is now considering his options as Liverpool have apparently made an improved offer If the offers are exactly the same (unlike Sig and Dempsey where Spurs paid much more than we were willing to), then there's only one place Willian would go to.
I reckon it'll be worth matching the price that Spurs have put in for him, if he comes then great but would be hilarious if he went elsewhere after all this with spurs
