I loathe him. I don't find him remotely funny, but I agree with your every word. This has become a witch hunt as the Fuzz try and regain some credibility. They've failed with me. Just suggests to me they are more interested in their image than in justice.

If he'd been a Hull City supporter as well then WYP would have him on death row by now.

They, and the compensation culture is behind this. The fuzz just get stuck with the reports... Which by all accounts are flooding in from people after some compo...

    Complete bollocks.

The fuzz investigate allegations, if they deem appropriate they pass their file onto the cps to decide of enough evidence to prosecute. It's got **** all to do with seeking compensation, which is the civil courts not criminal

Tell you what annoys me? The people in the comments section complaining about him being named. He wasn't named! All the police ever do is confirm an age and where they're from in cases like this ie a 58 year old man from Chigwell.

    Why do they confirm anything?

If they're arresting famous entertainers, why are they issuing clues as to their identities?

How many 58 year old male celebrities live in Chigwell?

The police should investigate all allegations, but they should say nothing about who they are investigating until they're charged with an offence.

I think Davidson is a talentless ****, but nobody deserves this sort of ****.

    The law is an ass'

I can't remember if it was him, but there was at least one celebrity arrested in a dawn raid who would have just turned up at the Police Station had they just rung them and asked.

Lawyers take abuse claims. They have a duty to hen pass he details to the police. They encourage their clients to report the assaults to help he claim.
The police don't go looking for these allegations.

Why do you think people are suddenly saying they had their breast touched thirty years ago? Justice or chance to be part of the class action against the celebrities assets. They police just investigate what comes in the through the door. As the lawyers at CPS then decide who to charge I Can't see how this can be places at the doorstep of the fuzz?

Yep compo is a civil matter but as in bogus traffic accidents and whiplash it all hrs reported to the cops to ensure it is all documented and looked at. Can you imagine a civil claimant asking for compo for historic abuse and admitting they hadn't even reported the crime?

Compensation culture is fuelling a lot of this. The real victims exists and deserve justice bit far too many hangers on want their cash or a bit of fame and attention.

All those arrested as part of this investigation have been presenters or producers of TV programme's during the 70's/80's, remind me what Alan Sugar presented or produced during that period?

Must be birds of a feather.

Maybe not fair, but the price of celebrity in these matters. He had his day when he was funny and he did some good stuff for the forces; even when he was off his head with drink. He certainly wasn't talentless; what you thought of his talent is another matter. Fact is, if he had of been guilty, he probably wouldn't remember.

It's an uncomfortable necessity, Hall was blatant in his lies and his preparedness to make his victims suffer more; I guess it's a similar argument to why there should not be a death penalty - only in a kind of reverse. I'm certainly not a liberal (although the article argues against itself quite well), but it is certainly a social dilemma. Nowhere near as bad as the horrific gassing in Syria; society sure has a lot to sort out.

Not all: was the unnamed 53yr old? Of course, then you have the priests, teachers and various care workers. Public awareness does have a benefit.

I'm sorry Steve but you clearly have no understanding of our legal system. No offence but you sound like a story in the Daily Mail.

Whilst I could take you to task on everything you have posted I cannot be arsed. Suffice it to say that the daily mails compensation culture has nothing at all to do with criminal prosecutions for.historic sexual abuse.

For all its faults, fostering a "compensation culture" is not an accusation I would level at the Mail. Divisive, misleading, scare-mongering, malevolent, hypocritical, misogynistic, scape-goating and patronising - perhaps, but promoting a "something-for-nothing" society is probably wide of the mark - except in its royal coverage and hat-doffing to the "civilised classes" of course....

The only reason these stories get out is because police employees sell the details to the media. Once they have this off the record info and then formally ask if they've arrested XY or Z the police only give the minimum details. As a public funded organisation they cannot not give these details. There's nothing wrong with the law, there's just dodgy police.
