As you say without Willian's signing they might just have got away with spending what they have, but now that's happening they will definitely fall foul of the FFP regs and probably find themselves in trouble with their bank manager as well if they don't get a fair lump from somewhere. £90m is a lot of money to spend for any club, and Spurs, though rich, are not exactly in the same league as the likes of Man City or PSG for example. I can't really see Bale staying now.

No, and if reports are to be believed then the deal is now done, so I accept that Willian's signing was likely dependent on the Bale money, and the fact that he also plays left-mid adds to that theory. But what I'm saying is that Spurs could probably have afforded to sign Soldado, Paulinho, Chadli and Capoue, and keep Bale. It's really the kind of spending you'd expect from a team attempting to get into the Champions League.

I figure the majority of the Bale revenue will go towards the next couple of windows. They certainly haven't spent it all.

but I believe they know it is coming and they agreed to the deal once they have completed some of their own.

That would certainly happen after Bale moves, but I kind of doubt it'll happen at all. Roma will be determined not to lose another one, and I'm not sure Lamela is all that keen either. Seems a bit optimistic on Spurs' part.

May have been discussed already, but arsenal are apparently in for Micah Richards, Ashley Williams, Michu as well as Cabaye.

What would everyone make if they pulled all of them off? Personally for me they would still be missing the one thing they need most, a Wanyama type player to dominate the centre of the park and tidy up/help the back four.

I agree, what they need most is a Wanyama. I'd be keen to see Richards do well there and make it into the England team, as I prefer him to Walker and Johnson. I'm sticking to my guns that Ashley Williams is actually quite poor, and I don't think he'd be a good signing at all. Michu could work I guess. Cabaye is just unnecessary and a panic signing.

Yep, you just summed up exactly how I feel.

I mentioned that I thought cabaye is the last thing they needed to my arsenal supporting friend at work, and e pointe out that arteta is supposedly out for 6 weeks. But signing cabaye would just be buying yet another round peg for a square hole. They would still have no defensive midfielders. Cabaye's first thought isn't "which run should I be tracking", it's to get in people's faces and make things happen - exactly like arsenals other 9,000,000 midfielders

    What are you suggesting? ;)

Not out of the question that he could be available on loan, considering the number of players Chelsea have in his position now. I'd certainly consider him an upgrade on Puncheon.

I would be very bloody angry if I was a Swans supporter and would end up hating Wenger as much as we Saints' fans do.
