Oh, and Mick, British soldiers were sent into Northern Ireland to PROTECT Catholics. However, the (Catholic) IRA began to kill us because the IRA hierarchy were worried about losing the support of the Catholic community to the Brits of all people
I think these so called fans have gone too far this time and ultimately Celtic will be held to account for their actions. My cousin was at CP today and he's served in Iraq, he said he'll never go back and wants nothing further to do with the club.
They're a disgrace, as is the Scottish media who will of course not print the picture. Will Dr Reid or Chairman Liewell come out and condone these banners? Not a ****ing chance, it would alienate the IRA-supporting element.
An IQ of 144 is around the average a university professor holds and is 6 above the minimum you need to join MENSA. I don't think MENSA would let you in mate.
I find it ironic that rangers fans who could loudly be heard singing anti catholic songs as recently as Wednesday are now taking the moral high ground over this. Personally I think the banners weren't needed at the football. But they have a point. Rocket and bh I suggest you lads read a bit of non british press before making your mind up that the biased reports you read is the bible. Now I'm not saying foreign press isn't also biased. It is. But read see both sides before determining you are right. You might just learn something
"They have a point"..... What point? And the only thing I'm reading are those banners and they're wrong. There is no place for them in a BRITISH football ground and fortunately a lot of Celtic fans agree with that sentiment I suggest you remove those green tinted Irish specs and try looking at this from a neutral point of view.
The british army have been and still are guilty of many atrocities around the world, including an area they consider part of their home lands. Why should they get my or anyones support when they have murdered family members? Not everyone thinks like you rocket, our opinion is as valid as yours, for as you tell us regularly didn't they fight for that right? But you are spot on innyour assessment that the football isn't the place to voice that opinion. Many Celtic and rangers fans will wear the poppy with pride. I'm glad you so and won't voice my objection to your right to do so? But why the hassle for us not supporting it?
So being British = undying loyalty to your armed forces without being able to criticise or protest against them?
Maybe a little human forgiveness would help. There can be no resolving this without giving some compassion and letting go the past. Terrible things have been done in Ireland by both sides but these are tiny compared to what went on in India during partition. How can we sort this without all coming together in peace? अंधेरे से, हमें हल्की इधार नेतृत्व; मृत्यु से, हमें अमरता के लिए नेतृत्व; शांति From darkness, lead us unto Light; from death, lead us to Immortality; peace.
Thanks for the history lesson. I would suggest you're completely missing the point in all of this. There is a world of difference between " not supporting " something and flaunting ridiculous banners in protest. However, I'm glad you agree that within the confines of a BRITISH football stadium there is certainly no place for this. And who are these people? They are a minority and certainly not representative of the majority of Celtic fans most of whom are embarrassed by them and rightly so. As I said earlier, these fools don't know any better, but why did Celtic allow these banners to be unfurled in the first place? They bring shame to your club.
Of course not, stop being silly. I was totally against us invading Iraq and want us out of Afghanistan but that's my opinion to which I'm entitled. But I won't be flying outrageous banners any time soon.
