Clearly AVB doesn't believe Carroll/Townsend is ready or not good enough. Tbf I've not seen enough of either to be 100% but he prob has

Oh, and willian/lamela spell danger for Townsend/sig/Lennon rather than Carroll. So Carroll might still get fair game time <ok>

    me too.

Apparently we don't need to sell him to finance it, but we can't accommodate him and all these new signings (If lamela happens too), and keep everyone happy.

Townsend I don't hold much hope for other then being a decent squad player, much like Chadl or Siggy.

Carroll in terms of ability is ready but hes held back by his build, I know AVB rates him, but unfortunately his lack of size means he doesn't get the chance he actually should be getting.

Dembele for all his size and strength goes missing for long periods, power and size isn't the be all and end all, and I don't see Carroll get bulled as he either hides under players legs lol or positions himself away from crowded areas.

Anyway, its going to be an exciting season for many reasons and I expect both of us will have our views changed come may not just on our young signings, but also our new arrivals

Sandro Dembele Capoue Paulinho Carroll Siggy Holtby

    Lennon Chadli Bale Lamela Towsend

    Defoe Soldado Adebayor

On paper thats madness to have such depth for a club outside the champions league and not in the title race.

But I do believe we have to sell Bale to cover all these arrivals as we're basically outspending the richest club in the world (man city) and that isn't what anyone in football would have predicted.

    you've forgotten Willian! <laugh>

I think it's curtains for Townsend, so if we're saying bale is off, that leaves us with

    Lennon
    Chadli
    Lamela
    Willian

that's enough. There's no way we can accommodate 5.

Lamela would be the next Bale for Levy.
Not in ability, but in potential for being sold to some clowns for 100m like
    Bale will (eventually) be.

It's madness for a club outside the CL, but that is EXACTLY what we want

Roo, I've just realised this is your dream transfer window after your nightmare one of last January.

I bet you're walking around with a permanent grin on your face ;)

yes I know why we're making these signings and where we want to be, just to have such depth in positions trying to accommodate so many players and have them settle isn't always the best policy.

We need a settled balanced team to get into the top four so the most important aspect is if we Gel as a team.

Apparently Baldini has been in Madrid this afternoon, either Coentreo is on the way or he is sorting a deal on Ronaldo.

Don't get me wrong I'd love Carroll and Townsend to be the next Beckham and Scholes but COME ON.

The people saying they'd rather have Carroll in a squad than Willian / Paulinho / Sandro / Dembele or Townsend instead of Chadli / Lennon / Willian need to get a grip.

There is liking a player (I really like Holtby) but I'm not stupid enough to say he's better than any of our current first teamers. Either I'm missing some massive sarcastic joke on here about Townsend and Carroll or some people don't realise how good our squad is now / just want to have a bitch and a moan about SOMETHING.

Have to say lads, in my opinion Spurs are dead certs for top 4 now with the players you've brought in/bringing in.

It's neither. I'm just saying what I think. I appreciate that we are very lucky to have these new players coming in, but I am saying that I would rather we do it in a way whereby Carroll and Townsend can prove their right to a place in the side. Why bring in Willian and Chadli, when we could potentially have just as good a pair in the club already who have been brought through by Spurs ? For all anyone knows, either of those kids could do a Bale.

And if Carroll and Townsend turn out to be average what then? We will have taken a 1 in literally MILLIONS chance that these 2 lads could turn into superstars when this is the PERFECT time for us to push on as a club.

I agree, I don't want Townsend or Carroll sold - I want them loaned to a decent premier league club. Neither are proven at any top level. Townsend was alright at QPR for 6 months.

If Carroll or Townsend go to Swansea and prove they have what it takes - Brilliant!!!! But they haven't and we are inches away from becoming a title challenging club, and are signing some of the most sought after players around which will hopefully take us to the next level.

Promoting Carroll and Townsend to replace Modric and Bale would be an enormous lack of ambition.
