Does anyone know why the club hasn't said anything yet about a caretaker manager? Ray Lewington is the obvious man, but there doesn't seem to be anything public about him being asked to step up.

It's probably that they don't feel they need to appoint a caretaker because they hope to have a permanent manager in place before pre-season training starts, but maybe the club is considering something different - Billy McKinlay, Kit Symons and Danny Murphy are other internal appointments that might point at the possibility of looking to promote from within for the permanent job. Just a thought.

Good question CM - because of the Europa League starting so early someone will need to decide in 2-3 weeks which players to call back for the first qualifying round. I'm hoping that it's as you say - we'll have a permanent manager in place sooner rather than later.

Another question is why has there been no announcement about Mark Bowen, Glyn Hodges and the rest of the MH entourage? All are still listed on the club website.

i would imagine they all fall under the same contract. They are all Chelsea bound after all.

Funnily his backroom staff didn't have the same break out clause. So they will get us a bit of compensation. Unless we want to keep them of course... :)

I guess they can't afford Kia Joorabchian as their agent.

I've just been looking at some of the news websites. One has an interview with Bobby in which he says something on long the lines of Ray Lew did a good job last summer so he'd do the same again this year. As for MH Bobby said he was surprised he had gone but the inference was that he wasn't particularly disappointed.

Having said that (and good though Ray is) obviously it makes sense to get the new manager in asap, as long as its the right person of course.

Another senario which maybe could work would be a good upstairs manager with Kit Symonds as
chief coach, this guy has worked wonders with the youngsters.
Or what about Kit S working under the direction of the often mentioned Bob Bradley

Bowen is looking after the side as both he and Eddie N are still with the club.

I thought Bowen followed him everywhere? Or is that Kia? On another note, does anyone fancy Murphy to be our next boss's assistant? Coach/player sort of role.

I would like to see Murphy after he finishes playing, shipped out to do a couple of years
managerial apprenticeship, and then return into management,as i believe he is a "fulham" man

I would love to have Danny as our manager one day but agree with Valjing, he needs to get some experience in one of the lower leagues then come back.

I can also see Hangeland in management one day, but perhaps not in England

Mo wouldn't have Bowen - doubt if he even knows what he looks like. But he won't sack him cos that costs us and he (MO) knows well that he (Bowen) will follow Hughes, along with at least Hodges if not more of the hangers-on. So we get compensation.

And, as I said in my other thread Hughes is bound for Chelsea soon. No question he was tapped 3 to 4 weeks ago. The Blue bums are just trying to sort out a deal with Hiddink before agreeing Hughes' role and therefore the loot he will get. The man's only ambition is to follow the money.

Forgot to add my sixpennies about the 'Caretaker'. Lew would be a main man. But Butch Wilkins is stll my first choice.

It was on the BBC Website that Bowen and Eddie N are still with the club because they didn't have a break clause and Bowen was nominally "looking after" first team affairs. Which probably means nothing as they are on holiday, but as the assistant manager I guess he just naturally gets landed with the role until someone else is appointed Manager or the job is taken away from him and given to someone else on a temporary basis.

Please not Ray Wilkins. I think he's a top bloke, and was a fantastic player, but his record as a manager is awful. We were useless - technically adept, but useless nonetheless - when he was working under Keegan. Before that he got QPR relegated as soon as he sold Les Ferdinand. I'm sure he's a good coach, but the fact that no one has employed him as the main man since we parted company back in 1998 says a lot about his management credentials. If he came back to the Cottage as part of someone else's backroom team, I'd be delighted, but please - please - not as manager.
