Easily forgotten about, but we do have a League Cup tie against Leyton Orient next week. Given how we struggled past them last season, it'd be good to see this wrapped up early on, avoiding the need for extra time/penalites. It'd also be nice to see a couple of youngsters brought in, as it doesn't look like they'll get much of a look in in the PL. I'd go with: Harper Rosenior Mcshane Figueroa Townsend Boyd Wilson Quinn Dudgeon Jahraldo-Martin Proschwitz Subs: Jakupovic, Brady, Koren, Faye, McElroy, Clappison/Clark, Fryatt A nice blend of youth and experience; if Quinn isn't quite ready, stick Koren in there and he should help see young Dougie through.
The only good news about playing Orient away in the coc next tuesday is that i can extend my b/h weekend away. Other than that what a joke this tie is. The match price for most is a joke. If the crowd is above 5000 i shall be surprised. Anyway rant over. My team would be:- Harper Rosenior McShane Bruce Townsend Jahraldo-Martin Koren(c) Dudgeon Fryatt Proschwitz Boyd I would also leave all the main players back in Hull. Take some kids along for the experience. Shame that Quinn and Faye wont be fit enough. But if they are then have them on the bench ready for a run out near the end. imo. subs: Jakupovic - Max Clark - Doug Wilson + 4 others.
-------------------Harper----------------- ---------Rosenior---Bruce---McShane---- ------Stewart---Wilson---Boyd---Dudgeon -------McLean---Proschwitz---Fryatt---------- Simply because I think Bruce will use it to give squad players a run out for fitness/sharpness and also use it as a shop window to try shift the likes of McLean and Stewart. Can also see Townsend and Jahraldo-Martin coming on in the second half for a run out.
I don't think he'll completely write off the game and play a complete second string, I expect something like... --------------Harper -----Chester Mcshane Bruce Rosenior------------------Dudgeon -------Boyd Koren Meyler -------Fryatt Proschwitz
That's still a team which should be beating Orient. These guys need to use the match to show SB they deserve to be playing first team football. I somehow expect us to fall at the first hurdle again.
Good game to give the bench a run out. Orient are playing well so should be a good test of our depth Harper Rosenior McShane Bruce Boyd Meyler Koren Dudgeon Fryatt Proschwitz
Bollocks, that's an excuse used when we lose or expect to lose. I dont expect many if any of our best 11 to be starting against Orient. So its a perfect time for our 2nd string side to start showing Bruce what they are capable of. A professional footballer should go out there wanting to win every game.
I'm not using it as an excuse whatsofuckingever. I would rather us be able to concentrate on staying up this season than being distracted by the cups.
Everyone who turns out for us will be a registered Premier League player, they need to play like one, there's no way we should be losing to League One opposition. I expect a fairly strong bench, just in case.
------------ Harper ------------ Rosenior -- Faye -- Clark -- Dudgeon Quinn -- Koren ---- Meyler -- Boyd ------ Proschwitz - Fryatt ------- That's what my team would be. Given that Bruce - for some inexplicable reason - thinks Koren and Meyler are capable of playing in the Premier League (they ain't), I doubt I'll be anywhere near. I'd also like to see Jahraldo-Martin given a crack.
He plays left back or on the left of a centre back pairing(or trio), I think I've seen him play more at CB than LB.
Winning breads confidence, and confidence is what we need. Regardless of the competition, we should be going out to win. I would expect to see a 2nd string team fielded against Orient (which would have no impact on our league campaign) and unless we reach the quarters\semis I would still expect a 2nd string team to be fielded in every Cup match. Our backup players get game time and a chance to show Brucey what they are all about. In no way to I want the likes of Thudd going out there and getting nobbled though.
Well they didnt' play too badly against us in the cup last time and they'll be more up for it than we will. I'd expect to see CJM at some point and either he or Wilson will start (if they haven't gone out on loan by then). I'd forgotten about Alex Bruce (weird how that can happen), he'll definitely play a part. Thinking about it, I don't expect to see anybody starting on the Saturday to start the following Tuesday, but it'll be an interesting statement towards our ambition when Bruce announces our squad for the match.
