I'm not saying he'll single handedly get you promoted, but he'll be more of a positive influence than a negative one. He had rather a bad injury at Leicester (shoulder?) and bounced back from that alright. I've never rated Chris Wood. He can't cut it at the top level and his goalscoring record for you last season, while admirable at the start, quickly faded. He was shocking for WBA and honestly, I don't think we'll see him produce much this season. I'll happily be proven wrong; he's still young so he might take a while to find his feet.
Well i'd guess that if you believe in certain managers getting the best out of players, then it is Pearson in Fryatts case. Unfortunate timing for his injury at Leicester, his form was on the up from his league 1 performance, but it opened the door for Waghorn, who is imo exactly the same kind of striker. Maybe he would have been good the season after, but by this time Sven was spunking the cash everywhere. Me because its lunchtime and ive found the can opener
Fryatt will go, SB included him in his 'he will get a chance' statement as pure window dressing for the transfer market. Yes he scored goals, but he went for long periods missing far more from some of the best assist football we have seen. £800K is good money for him.
Yes. They're actually pretty shrewd when it comes to buying players. They bought Chris O'Grady earlier in the window for £300,000 and they have the £3m they got from the John Stones deal when he was sold to Everton.
This would be a good move for Fryatt, although I'm sure I've just seen a news article saying Bruce was ready to give Fryatt and Proschwitz a chance to prove themselves in the Premier League (but then again that would be similar to the Cameron Stewart situation last Season really). He would go to a lower half Championship side which, IMO, isn't his level (top half should be) but he would get week-in, week-out football and wouldn't need to travel far. Hopefully, it kick-starts his career again after missing all last Season.
Barnsley cannot afford Mclean so they have no chance with Fryatt. Good that SB has said that but Expect Derby to move in for Fryatt IF the Rams sell Will "Rhydian" Hughes to Liverpool as is being talked about. No takers for Cammy Stewart yet ?
If it is the end (despite Brucey in the HDM), i'm quite upset really. Matty was one of my fave players the last few seasons, and to see his City career seemingly end in the most unsatisfactory manner is a bit sad to me really.
He could very well be used in a swap deal prior to sept 2nd @ 11pm John if SB can find an upgrade that is - on Matty i would suggest. Wrong ^^^ this. Tuesday night @ Orient in the coc.
Barnsley can afford Mclean, they've made him an offer that he's considering(the only reason he hasn't signed already, is that it's not his only offer). Nobody will come in for Stewart while he's injured, he'll go out on loan once he's fit.
Dont bet on it. Nobody is that desperate. Mclean would be back at Peterboro now but he wont drop to league one as things stand. As for offers i can see Millwall being one club who may take a punt on him. We could chuk in Stewart as well. In fact offer Millwall a swap deal now. Trotter for Stewart. Both out injured atm but i know who i would like once they are fit.
I was just basing it on the fact that they've had PL money recentley. McLean can't be on more than 10k a week, so I can't expect him to be on mega bucks wherever he goes.
Anyway the Leicester fan has a point. Their attack was way better than ours the last few seasons and the likes of Fryatt were not the reason we're now a league above them. Wood and Nugent are both better. He'll be a good signing for someone, but not one of the Championship's best sides which is what Leicester are.
He's a damn site better than Vardy or Waghorn. Other than the three relegated sides, every team in the Championship would benefit from having Fryatt in their squad. If he'd been fit for us last season, I think we'd have won the league.
