He is not worth 35 million, every time I have seen him, which is not that much admittedly I have not been that impressed.

Say what you want about Wenger but he's in for a penny, in for a pound so that is admirable.

If we are going to sign players for what they are really worth, then we are going to have a real hard time in this current transfer market. I watched La Liga regularly for the past 5 years, and for me Higuain would have been brilliant for us. He is a natural finisher and we simply lack a player like him in our team, one that can stretch defences. To see a player like that willing to come to us from Real Madrid was great news, and after we agreed terms with the player, it felt like it was close. Ditching him for Suarez backfired and now, we are left with what exactly?

The barbarians are at the gates, is a phrase that comes to mind right now during this transfer window. The last of the bragging rights us fans will now be ripped right from us this season. Wenger's excuse of no longer seeing it will now come to an end, when even the diehard amongst us will finally ask for his head. Until then, sit back and witness the incompetence of this summers transfer window unfolds to an uncomfortable and ultimately bad end to a season.

It's sad to see a once great footballing manager turn into a parody of himself. We all wanted him, including the diehard WOBs, to buy well this window. His chance came and has now gone. Damn his subborness but there is a part of me that agrees with his principles with the crazy way money is being thrown around nowadays. But you either join in or you fall out of grace, unfortunately we are doing the latter right now.......

The trouble with this window is that a lot of clubs have been looking for a striker, so the selling clubs have simply been whacking another 10m-20m on their actual value. In any normal window, would anybody have paid much more than 16m for Soldado? 35m for Cavani? Even Suarez should have been around the 35m mark, our bid 40m would have usually seen the selling club biting your hand off. This coupled with the chain reaction from the Cavani deal and the fact that Real look like they are going to break the transfer record to land Bale, has sent the prices rocketing.

Should we have just taken it on the chin and got fleeced along with everybody else ? I'm not sure. Our squad need strengthening that's for sure, but at what cost ? If we had gone to Liverpool's initial valuation of Suarez that would have pretty much been our budget spent and we still need a DM and a CB. The spuds have spent 90m this window, maybe they can afford to because they've got lucky with a massive over valuation for Bale.

We might not like it, but maybe it would be better to wait until January when there isn't the clamour for all the same players and we can get our targets at the price they are worth.

Arsene Wenger blows his top over Yohan Cabaye criticism
http://www.express.co.uk/sport/foot...ger-blows-his-top-over-Yohan-Cabaye-criticism

Arsenal manager Wenger said: “There is nothing to explain, you know. You have your opinions. First of all, you don’t know what we have done, you don’t know if we did bid and you have come to a conclusion without knowing everything that has happened.

“It’s quite amazing that all of the people don’t know and yet they always have opinions about things they don’t know.

"I won’t explain to you what has been happening. It’s not down to me to explain to you everything I do. It’s impossible.

“If we do a transfer, we will announce it. We always inform you. As for the rest, you have to leave us to do our own things.”
When, in Fenerbahce’s Sukru Saracoglu stadium, he was pushed on not spending, despite talk from chief executive Ivan Gazidis about a war chest of £70million, Wenger leant once again on his record.

He said: “I would just like to reiterate to you that in the last 16 years we have been very successful with transfers.

“And if you look at the players who play against Fenerbahce, they are top-quality players. It is not always to think what is outside is better than what you have. What is important is to rate what you have. Our fans have to understand that.

“Two weeks is a long time, and 75 per cent of things happen in the last 10 days.

“So, we are a bit short now. But I don’t worry because I believe in the players we have. The quality of their spirit and attitude will come out again.”

Yup, those Spud barbarians are at our Roman gates while we search for a way to crucify Arsene Christ Wenger of Nazareth. He is protected by his disciples, Piskie, enigma, TT, and Oxo, while COYG (Peter) denies he ever knew him. Judas Van Persie watches gleefully from the sidelines, while Samir `Mary' Magdelane laments her whore ways and washes Arsene's feet in the hope of one last romp with the first team. The crowd chant that the usurper must be put to death, and us Romans must give him the chop!

True but the club are quite happy to charge some of the highest ticket prices in Europe and have tens of millions sitting in the bank but then get all moral about the ridiculous money in football when it comes to buying players? Smacks of hypocrisy really.

The one good thing about this window is for once you haven't had to sell your best player. That aside, how can Spurs and City etc get 3 - 4 top deals done each and Arsenal none???

Very true and it's all these points that most of us are not happy about. But I guess, as long as we have more money in the bank than everyone else, everything is a-ok :emoticon-0114-dull::

Why doesn't he have the right people around him when all our rivals seem to have somebody doing better transfer business than us? And also, where do the spuds get all their cash from?

Bernard Age: 20 Club: Shakhtar Donetsk Nationality: Brazilian Both Arsenal and Tottenham made enquiries for the Atletico Mineiro starlet after some impressive performances for the Copa Libertadores champions but the Gunners never finalised a deal for the winger. ‘Arsenal told us that they would bid but never did so,’ bemoaned the club’s president Alexandre Kalil. Current situation: Bernard eventually signed for Ukrainian champions Shakhtar Donetsk in deal believed to be worth £21.5 million.

Aside from the cheapest matchday ticket price, Chelsea is almost half of Arsenal in every other metric. This is a club from the same city, more demand for a lower amount of seats available, and a club which has been much more successful than Arsenal in the last decade.
