Apparently Spurs are paying €41m for Willian. At that price I can see why we're not in for him, and I'm not too bothered on missing out.
Maybe the market just went up ? Extra Sky money, better marketing jobs being done by clubs, more foreign billionaires buying up clubs across Europe, maybe last seasons £25m players are worth £30m+ now ? Hope I'm wrong but I also guess it won't be long before the agents/players realise there's extra cash about and I wouldn't rule out a £300k a week player in England in the next year....
Its scandalous the amount of money football clubs are paying out especially with the current economy in Europe, I would actually say im bordering on declaring tennis my favourite sport ahead of football, at least the earn there money more and are not all twats.
The female tennis player, sharapova, is thinking of changing her name to sugarpova for the us open to promote her own range of sweets....she aint short of a quid or two....I think money has spoilt all sports imo.
Female tennis players are practically subsidized, don't see how they'd be an example of players earning their money.
Is that the same female tennins players who get paid the same as their male counter parts for doing 3/5ths the work?!?!
Stick'em on a building site with a brick hod and see what they can do. Just this once I wouldn't mind seeing a "builders bum"...
Didn't mean just the amount of "work", necessarily. Ad revenue and viewership would still be much higher for males even if they played just 3 sets like the females.
Don't forget that the men only play the best of 5 sets in grand slam tournaments. In all the others they play the best of 3 the same as the women.
True but the main pay days come in the majors and it was Wimbledon a few years ago when they 'finally' made pay equal despite the men playing more sets and clearly having a considerable greater draw for fans. If Wimbledon was Women's only, would they even sell it out? Rightly or wrongly, the attention and draw of the mens game is far superior.
Unfortunately that is the PC world that we live in, everyone knows the men have to do more to win because of the longer matches, but if they tried to change the prize money to reflect there would be an uproar and accusations of sexism. Therefore it's just easier to give equal pay to avoid a lot of hassle and make it look they are promoting equality.
The truth is lads that clubs, managers, players, agents and every other thing that makes money out of football don't give a flying fig about the fans and will charge us over the top prices to watch a game of football and we are the idiots that let them get away with it. If we were all to stop going to matches then football would go into freefall and pointless. who would want to play at an empty stadium...As long as we pay these prices (and arsenal are one of the dearest to support) then the clubs will take advantage of us, Its about time football came back to the real world and give the fans who are not getting value for money something back instead of making it difficult to enjoy football...
