I am firmly on AOB's Foundry in the Great Voltigeur at 7-1. It's a hard race to be making it's second ever public appearance in, but he is entered in the St Leger, and to win that, he must win this IMO. And I'm sure that the stable think they have something special in this horse. I'm also convinced that Broxbourne will get a better ride this time and have him in single and double bets. York 1.55 Zero Money 16/1 2.30 The Grey Gatsby 6/4 NAP 3.05 Nichols Canyon 12/1 3.40 Al Kazeem 6/4 4.55 Blurred Vision 12/1 Really looking forward to the Acomb, The Grey Gatsby is an absolute monster of a 2yo, and First Flight looks very smart, both were green as grass on debut and both will improve for the step up to 7f, its a tricky call as First Flight might have more zip of the two but I was just very taken by the imposing grey physically and I cant oppose him. Id be surprised if the others got anywhere near these two. Tempted to phone up for a price him for the Guineas, could be dreaming but I think he is potentially that good. Whatever happens tomorrow, I think he has a big future.

Bogart showed lots of speed before his saddle slipped on it's last run, was his first run after being gelded, still holds an entry in the Group 1 Betfred Sprint Cup at Haydock (maybe a little too ambitious?). Stable companion The Grey Gatsby also holds a Group 1 entry (Dewhurst) in the next race and looks the one to beat, should improve a lot from it's first run. But Il Papparazzo is also entered in the Dewhurst so each way value at 15/2.
The Yorkshire Bookies’ Benefit begins today on the Knavesmire. Small fields in the pattern races offering little appeal to small punters unless they want to take on the favourites and huge fields in the handicaps leaving the punter to guess whether they will come stands’ side, far side or down the middle (a result of the drainage work undertaken a few years back). Plus they have a record of over watering on the Knavesmire although there is no rain forecast for once. The Juddmonte International is dealt with on this thread. In the Great Voltigeur Stakes, Telescope continues to be priced up on the hype and the reputation rather than the racecourse form, which sets the betting up for those opposing him. Last year Godolphin floored Camelot in the St Leger with Encke. This year they have Cap O’Rushes taking the same route to Town Moor and Charlie Appleby’s charge looks up to the required standard after his Goodwood victory. My suspicion is that Foundry is running here simply to give Ballydoyle an idea how good the others are with the St Leger in mind; otherwise the trainer’s son would be travelling across for the ride. The same thought applies to Nichols Canyon for the yard that has farmed the St Leger lately. The principal concern for punters ought to be where the pace is coming from. The Acomb Stakes looks like just a watching brief as First Flight and The Grey Gatsby could be anything; and in a six runner field there is again no obvious pace although three of the others were ridden close to the pace last time out. Those that are desperate to be separated from their money can stick a pin in the card and hope to get lucky in the three big field handicaps.
Hello lads. Back from my ten week Summer travelathon. Cracking card today at York...off to catch up on some form...haven't backed a horse since Derby day...getting twitchy. Having a look through some past DT's and I can see from yesterday that standards certainly aren't slipping..great tipping. GL all today.
Joseph O'Brien can't do less than 9 stone so not wise to read too much in the riding arrangements of the Coolmore runner. I do agree Foundry is being used as sighter and given the way the AO'B runners improve for a run it's hard to fancy him despite the confidence of some on here...really not sure what to make of the race tbh.
tricky fields at york people-- agree with Quartermoon's assessment, they are to be treated with caution--havin said that , iam going to play on Nicholas Canyon for last years winning stable -- At Lingfield in the nursery at 4 40 G Man gets the chance to put his head in front for olly stephens to continue his great run with 2 year olds. A speculative bet goes on Roy Rocket for john berry in the 2 20 at Lingfield ,,a weak race, but he is unexposed and rates value.. good luck to all who gamble on animals !!
Warner gone for 6...kinda like him for an Aussie...especially for giving that little racist a sore face. Can't see Watson hanging around for long..ball doing loads in the air and off the seam and not a cloud in the sky..unusual at the Oval. Total bliss not having to listen to the mind numbing ****wits of the "barmy army"..they're probobly all polishing their whippets before heading to York races.

Got a bottle of Marques de Riscal in the fridge at the moment...getting it to a nice 16/17 degrees before gulping it with a big block of Idiazabal...never be afraid to get your red from room to cellar/bodega temperature in the old cooler..blissful afternoon ahead watching the cricket and racing.. Watson bloody lucky there with the leg before.
