Leeds to find out this week next step on byrams road to recovery. Would be great to get him back in a few weeks, in fact, at this stage, he would be like a top class signing. At least the injury kept him out of the shop window but would love to see him on the field soon. You wonder, with all the technology available, why it takes three months to figure out if a player needs surgery

Careful preparation and planning I think Eire. Surgery means a slower rate of recovery. Clearly Leeds want him back asap. But if by delaying his return by a couple of weeks he avoids unnecessary surgery, that might help in the long run.

No reason why not. After all it's only a hip injury. Not like the sort of stuff Somma and Kisnorbo went through. Maybe shaks some of these guys need a little hurling training to man them up a bit. Ross was watching Limerick Clare match on Sunday according to him on twitter

Probably right. Ten minutes would finish all their careers except Rudi. Wouldnt mind seeing him swinging a hurley in Croker

This was always a worry, playing him flat out in his first full season. No rest, tough games, gives his all, and now he's broken. The problem with long term injuries at a young age is they can linger through your career. Scary thing is Leeds are talking about an operation, not great.

Think the rest will do him some good in the long term. At least Peltier is looking a reasonable cover.

On the subject of Irish sport Shaks/Eire, did you ever hear the tale of a quarterfinal game involving Cork a few years ago. The winners of that game I think were due to play Dublin or AN Other in the semis. The Dublin v AN Other (can't remember who it was now) was rained off. So when the Cork quarter final went into extra time due to the scores being level at full time, Cork refused to come out for the first period of extra time. Their logic was that the other quarter final was off due to the weather, so why not replay their game.

Suffice to say, the craic between those of a Dublin persuasion and those of the Cork persuasion was hilarious to listen to.

Billy I think you worry too much mate. I remember a scouse kid who was getting rave reviews playing at Anfield with the big boys every week. he was the best thing on the park, but because he was only a kid he was forever out injured, but not with the usual injuries. Big nose who was coach at the time was forever on telly giving interviews saying it was because he's a kid and he's growing, his muscles are growing faster than his bone structure and all that shyte. There were worries that his carrer would be over before he reach 18 ...... Stevie Gerrard apparently is still playing fairly good stuff, oh he's England captain as well :emoticon-0111-blush
