I just don't know - for me everyone was quick to praise the board for bringing in the likes of Hooper and Wanyama when we had less money than we do now, and no one was criticising the board for selling players who wanted to go at big fees. So I'm guessing the issue is not necessarily money at moment, it's more available players who are any good and who are willing to come to us.
True enough. For me, timing is the key. Wanyama was a project player that worked a little quicker than we might have hoped. It would be like Balde hitting the ground running and being better than we think right now. Hooper was brought in to be a first teamer. He hit the ground running too. Of the four players that have come in, maybe only one was straight for the first team and he is injured. Maybe Virgil was too, I am not sure. If money is not the issue and it is players willing to come to us then Hooper shouldn't have been allowed to leave until such time as we are a more attractive proposition. That being after we are a confirmed CL side. I get the arguments about keeping an unhappy player, but Hooper wasn't that.
Utterly gash performance. Can't be bothered reading 8 pages of this but I presume all the arrows have been fired already. Still here's a laundry list of complaints: Board gay & cheap, Lennon tactically inept, players half-fit or just lazy, Mouyokolo: centre-half nightmare. There's more just can't be ****ed writing it
I get the impression a lot of fans are happy with yesterday result ,to prove their opinions of the board are correct . Lets get behind the team next week , we should still go through , if we do go out, then let the shouting begin .
I am sure everyone will support the team. I am sure everyone wants a 6-0 That said, keeping the powder dry is for those who don't see the writing on the wall. Whatever the result, the risk was too big to **** about with.
This A £5-10m on a transfer fee for a striker and 3 years wages. £20-30m down the ****ter if we go out of the Champions League. It's simple mathematics.
Think this to be honest We sold 3 of our best players from last season. The spine of the team, before hainvg replacements lined up - or until we had made it - why couldnt we sell them next week? Whilst im happy to buy projects we can turn into profit we need first team players now. If there were reserves ready and able to step up then fair enough - but it was clear there were not. We needed to spend that little bit extra on players to start straight off Not only will we lose the CL money itself, but no ones going to pay £12.5m for one of our players because they play well in the Europa league. So we lose the potential exposure or platform for them to shine and be sold for profit - thus further reducing the potential to turn a profit and rebuild next season also. I fully expect Forster and maybe Ledley to be the ones sold next year. If they play well in the CL again we could double the asking price. without it we cannot, hell we may not even get what we paid for Forster The only player we have bought who seems ready to start in the first team is one with a worse injury record than Thomas Rogne and Venegoor of Hesselink combined
The difference yesterday was simple - their players were up for it, each and everyone of them. No one in a Celtic shirt - save for maybe Commons - looked interested. I dunno if the players feel after last season they had made it or if after a couple of very very easy years in the SPL they feel they dont have to try? yesterday is not the first time we have seen this attitude I have to blame the manager for that. It should not be allowed time after time
Calm the **** down, you'll pump that mob 4-0 easy at the Rapedome. Celtic were ****e and they won courtesy of a couple of flukey goals. In saying that, maybe it's time for Lennon to fall on his sword?
Big Fwaser can be forgiven for his display last night as he's saved Celtic's ass on many occasions. If Lennon knew that this team where just going to go long ball, why did he not do the same ...I thought Balde was bought for this reason, to get at teams that sit bak to play long ball/counter attack!
Sell arguably your best CB, your best midfielder and your main goal scorer and this is what happens. I actually still think we'll go through because they were absolutely rank and rode their luck but ****ing hell, our defence is gash.
That was Kayser Soze's first full game for Celtic and Mouyokolo's second. Great time to try out a new central defensive partnership eh?
Totally ****ing inept management. Reminiscent of Ambrose playing against Juve the day after the AFCON final. Sometimes it's better to just keep it simple rather than ****ing about with "tactical plans" and "countering specific threats" Put the fittest, hungriest, most talented 11 players on the pitch and tell them to win. It's no hard.
If I were a Celtic fan I would be absolutely beelin' with the skinflint ways of the board. Celtic lost three of their most influential players and the board have made no effort to sign quality to consolidate after doing so well in Europe last season. Especially with the amount of money that has been accumulated from Europe and transfers. Seems the board do not have the gumption to know when to strenghten, unless it is financially. You guys should start voting with your feet, then they'll maybe listen to you. And honestly I'm being serious here.
I agree with you 100% ER. Whether the board are afraid to spend or they don't trust Lennon to spend I don't know. Shambolic performances & lack of investment = ****ed out the Champions Legue.
