    Just typical us!

Looking good , Gervinho might sign , Cabaye deal nearly tied up and BAM!

Barton and Nolan not given new contracts.

A classic form of shooting yourself in the foot.

Think that should be shooting yourself in the foot, a bit more serious.

What an absolute ****ing shambles. Let's not give established players that actually want to play for the club new contracts, but instead go out and try and sign players that will only come to us if a more attractive club doesn't come in for them.
It beggars belief, it really does.

Is there a chance Nolan would just see out his contract and then leave on a free?

I'm not gona go to bed mad, lets look at the positives. If this all works out we may end up with a great youthful team with plenty of money to spend playing great football

    we can only hope

Great youthful team full of ego's!

Haha just kidding , don't worry , be happy.

Could have been worse , could have been a mackem and be going for Larsson as top target <laugh>

I think they will both stay, but I imagine Mike Ashley wants to see whether they can repeat their success this season on the pitch next season.

I bet its due to their wages and ages, wouldn't be surprised if both were offered a one year rolling extension.

Why does Nolan need a new deal? I said when they were first talking about 5 year deals for him that it was daft!

He is 28, has 2 yrs left and while he has been great for us and is a great leader, he is getting no younger, is already a carthorse and will only become slower. He is only effective in a 4-4-1-1. I have said it for ages that we carry him in a 4-4-2. I know we haven't signed anybody yetm but once a few are through the door it may give an indication of how we will play next season, nolan wont be a part of our strongest 11 and I think this is in Pardew's thoughts.

Giving a new 5 year deal to Nolan now with two years left on his current deal is not necessary.

this as it was stated ages ago in that infamous statement, fat mikes plan (plan E if I recall) is to follow the arsenal plan.
I doubt this is true and personally I'll wait and see before expressing my feelings as the press are cheeky chappies and love stirring the **** were we are concerned.

This, plus he lacks pace, lacks technical ability & with Gosling, Cabaye, Barton & Tiote all in the mix, it's better we sold him NOW while we can get a few $$$ than when he's a 32 or 33 year old leaving on a free or worth nearly nothing. <ok>

    Legend for THAT hat-trick though!

These! Nolan only just has 2 years in him at this club, after that he can do what Giggs/Scholes did and have a rolling 12 month contract. Nowhere does it mention him being sold so doubt that will happen. As mentioned already ability wise we (fingers cross) will be bringing in better players this summer and then (fingers cross) some more next summer and Nolan in my eyes will still be here but as back up
