Before we bow down and hail Spurs as the greatest team ever assembled and consign our motley crew to the nether regions of mid-table obscurity, can I ask you have a look below at the "possible" best 11s, I know they will "more" depth to their squad and as most have said, modern game is a squad game, but bear in mind Spurs have been building this squad for a few years, we've only really started last year. I'll assume both will play a similar 4-2-3-1 System = Equal > Better < Worse Fill them in guys... Mignolet Loris Johnson Walker Agger Dawson Toure Vertonghen Enrique Rose (poss. Coentrao) Lucas Paulinho Gerrard Dembele Aspas Chadli Coutinho Holtby (Lamela if they sign him) Suarez Willian Sturridge Saldado I make no apologies for being fanatical, maybe blinkered at times, but they look pretty well matched to me. Be interested in what you guys think.
At the end of the day Liverpool are the best team in the world, i refuse to hear anything otherwise. WE are certainly better than ****ing Spurs. To be slightly serious, i dont think we are to far off spurs, as Man United have shown a team of superstars can be beaten by a Superstar team.
I don't agree with your line-up and some of the players you chose have not signed so I've changed it: Mignolet < Loris Johnson = Walker Agger > Dawson Toure < Vertonghen Enrique = Ekkoute Lucas > Paulinho (purely based on premier League experience and Brazilians needing time to settle) Gerrard = Dembele Aspas = Chadli Coutinho > Lennon Suarez = Bale Sturridge < Saldado Three in Spurs favour Three in our favour Five equal The squad depth is the killer.
Pretty much agree with Gerrez. It's when you then look at benches that's when it becomes worrying Jones < Friedel Wisdom = Naughton Skrtel < Kaboul Alberto < Capoue Allen > Townsend Sterling < Defoe That's their bench from the last game and ours (with Skrtel in instead of Ibe to match the positions) That also doesn't include Siggurdson/Adebayor who would definitely make the bench for us. Borini
Whilst typing this I'm going to completely reserve judgement until I've filled all the blanks in, here goes... Mignolet = Loris Johnson < Walker Agger > Dawson Toure < Vertonghen Enrique > Rose (poss. Coentrao) Lucas = Paulinho Gerrard > Dembele Aspas (?) Chadli Coutinho > Holtby (Lamela if they sign him) Suarez > Willian Sturridge (?) Saldado The places where I've put ? are where I believe it's not really fair to judge just yet. My judgements suggest Liverpool come out on top purely through the comparisons you've made. However it is quite an unfair way of looking at it as if you were to compare Willian to Coutinho say, rather than Suarez, Willian may well come out on top. Similar arguments can be made for Vertonghen being better than Agger, and Dawson better than (or equal to) Toure. I'm sad to say Spurs have a stronger squad than us. Not a fan of Spurs at all, but they are starting to have real strength in depth as well as a manager who I believe will go on to be a real success in the future. That being said, in 5 years time I'm still backing us to have overtaken them again once more. I've got a lot of (hopefully not misplaced) faith in the current setup and I really think we will prosper from a bit of stability and a strong, firm backroom team.
I think player for player Liverpool and spurs may be well matched but as we all know (or should know) it is the team and how it performs as a whole which will make the difference. Also how many game changers are there and how big is the game changer? City had more "better' players on paper but United had RVP and that made the difference. I just do not think you have a Bale and that is the key difference.
As Manc I have tried to give an honest opinion! Changed a couple because i think you may have been a little selective of the players you chose
Not for me. Lloris is an established international and is better with the ball at his feet. However, I actually think Suarez is better than Bale too but didn't want to appear biased
Fair enough, should have put Willian in brackets but it does appear he's on his way to them.. Can't argue with your assessment though.
Wow. Has this got anything to do with his rehabilitation in the hearts of the fans? A few weeks ago his name was mud. I think Bale is better than Suarez. Proof? Bale will walk into most top teams in the world. Suarez wouldn't .
I know you was but thought I'd respond anyway #lastwordaddiction Talksport are talking about Spurs and them possibly signing Willian and Lamela. One of then pointed out that they may not sell Bale and they both starting laughing. They response was "if they sign them and keep Bale, they can win the league" Only one response to that... FFS...
I can't stand bias..here's my ratings Mignolet >Loris Johnson >Walker Agger > Dawson Toure > Vertonghen Enrique >Rose (poss. Coentrao) Lucas > Paulinho Gerrard >Dembele Aspas > Chadli Coutinho >Holtby (Lamela if they sign him) Suarez >Willian Sturridge >saldado So there it is.champions league qualification is ours.
