  1. Couldn't disagree more! We shouldn't just chuck money at a problem (see Carroll, Downing, Adam, etc), we should be looking to get the best we can for our money. If he joins someone else because they offered more, who cares? Its not the sort of player we want. We want people they want to play football for the Liverbird on the left nipple, not for their bank manager!

Erikson and Coutinho could be a to many cooks scenario.

ooohhhh 4-2-3-1? ( Not much width but lots of play in behind?)

I also think that if we had gone that far with Willian, that would show some intent by us to spend or that we mean business? Or are we now looking to make sure we don't get caught showing our hand when it comes to money? Or did Carroll just **** up everything? <laugh>

  4. Not sure Eriksen can do that. If we played a 433 with one of the midfielders pushed forward slightly (this would be Eriksen) then it might work but it wouldn't be the flexible fluid movement we have seen in a 4231 <ok>

Edit: I should probably point out that I asked a question who people would prefer to see us get out of Eriksen, Willian, Henry Ryan and Bernard last week (regardless of two of them having already moved). I said Willian would have been the best fit for the club but I think Eriksen is the best player.

That's just talk, imo. If he wanted to play for us, he'd push for that.

Guys I have a good idea. If we fail to sign an attacker we could do this! Keep Coutinho wide and play Allen as the CAM! I think I am on to some thing here!

Don't worry lads. If my experiences playing FM are any indication of real life <whistle>, there are countless Brazilian dribble-machines just like Willian in the Ukrainian league we can snap up for a couple mil.

Willian doesn't get a say in choosing, it was simply that Spuds bid more than us. And comparing Willian to Carroll, Downing and Adam is nonsence. We overpaid for them by about 100%. Willian would have required an extra 10/20% on our bid. The guy is £25/30million player, and that's what we have to pay to get him.

We'd get the width from the FBs. Would mean Lucas AND Gerrard being more disciplined and not being ahead of the ball when the FBs are attacking, but I see no reason why it couldn't work!

You see, how can you compare Willian to Carroll, Downing and Adam? Willian is and always will be lightning years ahead of them in terms or quality, I don't like to throw cash at players, not like Chelsea or city style anyway but for the right players, I feel we'll have too, especially as atm we don't have CL nor do we have Europe.

I see where you're coming from btw, I don't totally disagree, I just think to them £5-7m isn't really loads of money, I understood when it came to Dempsey, wrong side of 30 and wasn't getting any younger, this time though, slightly different IMO.

Each to their own though ofc Gerrez <ok>

I honestly think its a build up to that kind of deal for this transfer team. Rightly or wrongly they're going to have to show they get it right more than they get it wrong before FSG will gamble big bucks again. I don't blame them to be honest.

He said it, there were quotes. Only he knows who he really wants to play for, but if we matched Spurs' offer and Anzhi were happy with it, then it truly does come down to the players choice.

  16. I wasn't comparing him to them, I said I'd prefer the club not to throw money at a problem and used them as examples as to what can happen! There is a massive difference!

By your logic, if Dempsey had been the right player for us, you'd have happily paid £20m for him. Obviuosly, that is an unrealitic amount but there as to be a limit somewhere! If the club don't value Willian to the same level as Spurs then we don't buy him (unless the player refuses to sign for them of course)

  18. Someone else that can't read <doh> See my reply to Sir Red above!

I appreciate the club sticking to their principles. I actually think there are far too many people panicking that if we don't get top four this year that half our squad is going to ****off. that won't happen but what players we do lose, we replace and move on. No one is bigger than the club. And before someone says 'Suarez', I want him ****ed off two weeks ago!!!

As T-rex mentioned on the other thread ( and actually probably right) think we will see more JE at LW and Cissokho at LB. Anyone remember when we were linked all the time with Juan Vargas from Fiorentina? I feel like that is how Enrique will be used.
