Spurs, for me, have more or less already clinched fourth, unless for some reason these signings, all very good players, somehow don't work out. Soldado, chadli, Paulinho, now Willian and possibly Lamela? It's a wrap unless for some reason it all goes wrong which I just can't see.
Because Bluff, you have this American idea that you can throw the best individuals together (and whilst they ones you listed are supposed to be good they are not the best) and somehow magically they will all blend. IT DOES NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY. Spurs do not have a team, they have good players. end of!! The one thing our newcomers have going for them is that they are joining a squad and can integrate into a team they do not have to try and make a team or engender some team spirit. If you need proof of that then go no further than City
Who recently wont he FA Cup, LEague, and should have won the FA Cup last year and have gone from mid-table under Eriksen and Hughes to in the CL and finishing 1-2. Yes mate, you spend the dosh you get there and Spurs are spending it. I only said fourth mate, I didn't say Spurs were going to win the league but when you buy that much quality it is going to improve your team. For me, this transfer window they have soared past Arsenal and ourselves. I like our signings actually but just think that we have to play as a team and consistently ( which we really struggle to do) to even get a sniff of fourth. Spurs have now added multiple players to get them goals which will see them in the CL. EDIT: Don't be so ****ing daft with "American" idea mate as that is a myth. A lot of the best teams in the US sports have some star power of course but they are also built around the idea of a team, the roles in the team, and what you can do for the team.
There are pictures all over twitter of him training with the team and pictures of him in the kit and by the LFC logo inside.
Look at the squad Anzhi assembled, and the cost. Why is Gerrimoff or whatever he's called getting rid? Because they've under achieved. Now I'm not saying Willi is bad, or that Spurs won't do well, I'm just saying it isn't a foregone conclusion so before we all burn our season ticket/skysubscription/ laptop or whatever, let's see how things pan out. Football is about entertainment, and this season promises to be the most intriguing for a long time. I'm enjoying it already. (That could all change if we don't beat Villa, mind.)
Just saying my thoughts and opinions on the battle for fourth saint. Take Willian out of the equation, Spurs still bought well. Paulinho, Chadli, Capoue, Soldado. Completely solidified the middle and added a Striker they have been missing. Just think it is theirs to lose ( battle for fourth).
Spurs have added what to what? They added a degree of skill - maybe. But they were considered to be a one man team when they had Bale. Now you're trying to tell me that because they've bought some names that they will somehow magically become a team in their own right with a load of new players. I say again IT DOES NOT HAPPEN THAT WAY. As for City - they couldn't and still can't tell you what their best 11 is. They can be magic one minute and absolute dross the next. They lack consistency in exactly the same way that we do. SO MATE you spend dosh IN THE RIGHT AREAS and you HOPE you get there. And that phrase of yours sums up the difference between US psychology and a European one.
good for them... well done. lfc need to find a new target. once the radio shows starting giving it as news its not just rubbish
Absolutely. If I had to bet on it, I'd go with them. I'm just saying there's no point in us giving up the season when it's hardly started- all sorts of things can happen. We should just try to sit back and enjoy the ride rather than fret about something we're powerless to influence.
