I wouldn't mind Osvaldo starting and Lambert coming on at 60 minutes or so because he always seems to score when coming off the bench. It also means that if Lambert is benched we have a better option to play up front, instead of moving Rodriguez into the middle, playing Guly or Mayuka, etc.

Boruc
Clyne - Lovren - Yoshida - shaw
Schneiderlin - wanyama
Jay - gaston -JWP
Lambert

Osvaldo, Lallana and Cork to come on.....My God we actually have some decent strength in depth now when everyones fit! Exciting times ahead!

I want Lambert to go to Brazil not just for him but it is good for the clubs profile as well so he must play in my opinion.

Those who think he and Osvaldo can't play together are still thinking Rickie is an old fashioned centre forward.

My team would be:

Boruc
Clyne - Lovren - Yoshida - Shaw
Schneiderlin - Wanyama
Rodriguez - Lambert - Lallana
Osvaldo

and on the bench would be:

Davis, Fonte, Cork, Puncheon, Ramirez, Guly, Ward-Prowse

Luckily anything said on here doesn't count, because if it did I would hunt down everyone who wants to drop Rickie and shoot them like the dogs they are. (And chill). All I pray for is that Mauricio can make this work...because Rickie and Dani on song together would terrorise a lot of teams.

Of course, it's going to happen one day, Fran. What do they call the psychological condition..? Flash-forward..? I don't like to think of it. <wah>

The only worry I have with playing Rodriguez out wide and Lambert behind Osvaldo is that we have no decent strikers with fresh legs to come off the bench, unless Mayuka ups his game this season.

I agree with this line-up Godders! I really hope Lambert can play in that ACM role successfully.

Nice line-up Godders, though in hindsight we may not have Puncheon's services. [this is what I find quite perplexing] I would keep Fonte in the 11 and put Yoshida on the bench, but I won't put up a resistance to your back 4. I would have hoped to reward Chambers, so if Puncheon is definitely off, I'd put him on the bench.

Lambert is a former midfielder. It is precisely why he has so much extra to his game than simply being a superior Grant Holt clone.

I'd go with...

Starting XI: Boruc; Clyne, Yoshida, Lovren, Shaw; Wanyama, Schneiderlin; Ward-Prowse, Lallana, Rodriguez; Lambert.

Bench: Gazzaniga, Chambers, Hooiveld, Cork, Puncheon, Gaston, Osvaldo.

If we have to bring on a sub keeper then it's a high chance that it will be because our keeper has been sent off and therefore the sub's first action is to face a penalty.

For SKD's penalty record alone, I'd always have him on the bench, despite seeing him as third in the goalkeeping pecking order personally.

Other than that, I'd go for the above.

I agree about SKD being the sub goalie, but it does raise another question. What if (God forbid) we lose a goalie through injury or sending-off AFTER we have used all our subs? Which one of our outfield players would don the gloves?

I'd quite like to see Jos Hooiveld have a go, but he probably wouldn't be on the pitch anyway. Who else is mad enough to give it a go?
