This thread gave us hours of worry last season but this time I'm very confident we won't be involved. So who will?Early days but for me based on signings etc it's Hull, Palace and Stoke.

Palace, Stoke, Sunderland. If DiCanio can get his new signings working then replace S'land with Hull. I have Cardiff safe, although I'm not sure why.
Hate predicting the new boys to go back down because we got cross last year, but can't see much past Hull and Palace. Cardiff possibly to stay up with Stoke taking their place. Wish the newbies the best of luck though (except against us).

Na if had to predict (going on what I saw at weekend, whihc you really can't.) I would say Hull, Newcastle (they lose the likes of Cabaye, they are up s**t creek without a paddle) and probably Stoke or even possibly Sunderland, maybe Cardiff.

I actively want stoke to go down. For too many seasons the PL has been blighted by their own brand of anti-football.
Way to early to have a real idea, but thoughts below on the promoted teams:-
I was impressed with the fight that Crystal Palace showed on Sunday, but I fear their limited quality will show through after 38 games, I certainly no longer view them as a stone wall 3 points at home though.
Hull looked an entirely different proposition after introducing their Tottenham imports in the 2nd half against Chelsea, without them in the 1st half they looked awful.
Still don't really have a clue about Cardiff.
What makes me concerned for all three promoted sides is that the Championship last year looked very weak to me.

Yeah they're going to be this year's Reading I think. They'll probably play some good stuff at times and get some shock results and end up being relegated anyway.
Think that has more to do with Chelsea easing off considerably after half-time. It is difficult to judge any newly-promoted side against a team like Chelsea though.
I think they'll be ok, just, though they looked pretty lacklustre against West Ham. They have the money to reinforce in January if they need to.

Don't worry we said the same thing last season. It's just natural for us to assume that a club that has just come up from the championship should be a favourite for relegation.
Sunderland simply because I can see Di Canio losing the dressing room when they get into a bad run of form.
Palace because other than Jedinak I cannot see much quality in their side
Hull because I just cannot see them scoring goals. They didn't score many last season and they have signed Graham who couldn't score last season. In this league they will concede a lot more goals.

Why is everyone so sure we will go down
I'm not 100% sure by any means. I just think the step up this year is worse than usual. All the true dross dropped down last year and there has been some serious strengthening going on amongst the teams that were close to the drop last season.
If you take us for example we can field a 1st 11 made mostly of international players now, and we ought to be the kind of team you need to be taking serious points against in order to stay up (not saying that you won't, just that it is going to be more difficult for you than it probably should be). I was always concerned that the sudden hike in Sky money at the end of last season was going to lead to a "closed shop" Premier League, where the promoted teams were going to pretty much always go down. I'll get back to you in 37 games and see if I was right.
Take heart that there will be a couple of teams that do their best to self-destruct during the season though, Newcastle, Stoke and Sunderland are my favourites to try and sink themselves into the bottom 3.
Hull & Palace, with one of Sunderland, Stoke or Newcastle ... but from what I've seen so far (admittedley not much with only one game), all 5 are deserving to go down
Interesting that perople are predicting doom and gloom in the North East. Pardew and Di Canio must be near favs to be out of work soon.
This could easily be the year when all three promoted sides go straight back down. That looks the most likely scenario to me. A lot of people are tipping Sunderland and Stoke for the drop, but I think De Canio's gamble in bringing in practically a whole new side will probably pay off as he'll get them playing the way he wants. Stoke have a fair bit of quality to bolster their combative side. And Newcastle won't go down, neither will Norwich.
On last night`s showing, I`d be concerned if I was Toon fan. Steven Taylor must have been taking Kung-fu lessons from Oscar Gobern. Not much transfer activity, and that bizarre Kinnear situation -what is he doing ?
