It's not upsetting, just a realisation that tottenham have pulled away from us and now left us stranded. Fair play to them, they have a team to compete for the league imo.
Totally agree MITO. There's lots and lots of very god players out there and he's not that outstanding. Let's see what surfaces. There's lots of players who still want to move and lots of clubs who now need to deal.
Don't be too sure of yourself regarding Tottenham's health as a club. They've spent a lot but recouped very little. They are still owed money by Real and they have not yet actually sold Bale. Like us they have a new stadium to finance. Splashing the cash can be interpreted as a sign of desperation.
in fairness i tipped spurs for CL place this year and willian is a very good player. LFC need to crack on with delivering on the pitch in a competitive league to be taken seriously.
Personally, AVB and Franco Baldini have a lot of contacts throughout Europe and I think this plays a massive part. I still think we need a Sporting Director to help attract targets.
Let's stop this, it's worrying me. I agree with you!! With the squad that we now have (including Suarez) we need to show the level and consistency of our 2nd half performance last season - or better. Now Willian may/may not have been a catalyst for that, I don't know. What I do know is that there are players out there who have the necessary skill sets and would find LFC an attractive proposition. I'm not crying over spilt milk or just lashing out at the Spuds. I'm only concerned that we maximise our long term opportunities
Spurs do look good but first and foremost we have to concentrate on ourselves and pick up as many points as possible. Spurs first eleven does not influence ours, we must do our talking on the pitch like every other team, because that's where it all counts for something. And as it happens I'm happy with our squad at the moment, Rodgers is starting to put his stamp on it, it's full of clever, technical players but all I think is lacking is a bit of strength. With that said, Toure, Mignolet and Cissokho all coming in, they're all physical players so maybe in a way Rodgers is starting to address that problem. Will be interesting to see if we add that quality attacker that Rodgers keeps talking about.
You're all talking like he's gone to Spuds- have I missed something? I'm not so bothered that we miss out on a big-name signing, I've said for ages it'll be difficult to get one- I'll just be pissed off if they keep going to PL rivals.
Keeping Suarez would be more of a boost than signing Willian, so overall I'm not too bothered. It's more that we seem to behind Spurs which is depressing me
THFC will always find a way to bottle their season, we just need to focus on ourselves since we can only affect 2 of their games anyway.
I agree Saint, he hasn't moved there yet and we still have a chance of singing him, the odds mean nothing cause it just means a whole bunch of people are betting him on joining them, if he signs for them I'll be gutted but not so much cause he's joined them but more for the reasons that magic says, that we seem to be behind spurs which is very depressing.

Unlike the real "home town" hero's who are few and fair between these days there isn't much loyalty. And to be fair to these guys, they are "Professional" footballers, they will choose which ever team best suits their needs at the time.. If they have ambition, then they'll want to play for a team that could win the title or are in the European comps, preferably CL If they want to top their bank balance, then they'll choose a team that throws silly money at them. If they're driven by the needs of their WAGs then they'll go live in a Capital City If they're genuine fans of the team, then they do what they can to join them, however in this instance one of the above would still apply. I for one don't begrudge anyone making a choice based on the above, heck, I'd be no different if I was in their position. They sign for someone else, good on them. They sign for us, Welcome aboard! No point crying over spilt milk when we haven't even paid for the pint!
The way I look at it... we are ahead for beating an established PL team through a well worked goal and not a lucky penalty (a la Spurs and Soton).
