To me Ricciardo is overrated. Sure he's fast in qualifying but he goes back a long way in the races also Vergne's sixth place in Canada which was a great drive has been largely overlooked by the media and others.
Yeah, nothing against Riccardo but I do feel Vergne's been a bit hard done-by. Still, Marko always moves in mysterious ways. Then again, Daniel has proved better in quali and quali's what counts at RBR.
This really implies to me that nobody actually analyzes the performance of the STR drivers (or any midfielders for that matter, something I've said for a while), bar start/finish positions. Would anyone actually be remotely interested in doing just that for the next race, meaning keeping the majority of the focus on these two, regarding things like pace, strategies, pit stops? Yeah, didn't think so. Worth a shot though.
Well I said that between Buemi and Alguersuari, Jaime was getting all the hype to be a RBR driver eventhough Buemi had better consistency of all the races though the season and was just slightly behind on points. In a RBR arena against the top teams Buemi would of beat Jaime with consistent points over a season rather than just a few rare wins/podiums etc...
I always felt that Buemi was better too. He was certainly the better qualifier, and yet Alguersuari often "came through" (really just bringing the car up to where it should have been) on the back of not hurting his tyres and having extra sets by falling out of quali early. Same applies to Dan and JEV.
To me STR like to try and be Sauber, try the clever strategies. Unfortunately they seem to rely completely on luck so usually pick the worse choice
Helmut Marko giving the biggest hint yet that Kimi is off to Ferrari: "I'm not nervous, we still have Sebastian Vettel"
INTERESTING! https://twitter.com/PeterDWindsor/status/369405646552039424 ‏@PeterDWindsor "Not sure that the ALO-Montezemolo relationship improved during August. Kimi now lined up as a swap, with VET going red in 2015"
If I was Dietrich and Christian I would try and get Nico Hulkenberg, he is almost a race winner and I think he has the potential for a future world champion! I'm sure he would jump at the chance of a RB seat too!
We all know that they want to get the worst realistic driver to be Vettel's team mate so he doesn't get grumpy. And it seems that's what they've done.
That's very harsh on someone that hasn't even been officially signed yet, let alone driven the effing car.
I agree! I also think its quite unfair of everyone beating up on Vettel - Ferrari dont sign a top class driver to partner Alonso but no-one criticises him as much. It has been shown numerous times throughout history (Prost & Senna, Villeneave & Pironi, Prost and Mansell, Hamilton & Alonso) that two exceptional drivers in one team can end in tears. I don't think its fair to be so harsh on Sebastian.
Prost and Senna were also spectacularly successful. .. but I get what you're saying. If Vettel is getting the job done year after year, it makes little sense to upset the arrangement by setting up a potential cock fight within the team.
You can't blame Red Bull (or Vettel if he had a big say) for doing the sensible thing, but you can't blame racing fans for a being a little disappointed either. Kimi vs Vettel would have been a treat.
Very true too... What if Kimi thinks he has a better shot of beating Alonso than Vettel though? Can't blame RBR if he doesn't want to go there.
