So the number 11 shirt is still free...

Firstly I'd like to congratulate Nicola Cortese for his phenomenal work in the transfer market again. How we're attracting the standard of player that we are is somewhat surprising but very much welcome. I'm sure there's a very happy Mr. Liebbherr looking down on us with his big beaming smile.

When I saw that Osvaldo had signed for us I thought it was a dead cert that he'd take the vacant number 11 shirt however he's in fact taken number 17. Does this mean there's another significant signing ahead??

Brilliant game on Saturday, the atmosphere was electric. Big shout out to the two guys we met from Melbourne, Australia who had come all the way over to see Southampton's first two games of the season. That's some real dedication for you!!

    What a coincidence...! ;)

He was number 17 for Roma, but I think there's one more on the way - a winger would make the most sense, not just because of the number 11, but as we're a bit weak in that area.

I think that's wishful thinking, more than likely.

Think he fancied the number...I'm sure he would have got number eleven if he'd wanted it. Good that he speaks some English...easier to pick up a language when you've got an ear for it. Think this was finished ages ago...it was just details that needed sorting out.

And Welcome to the Forum, saint'arper.

Yep, that took some dedication. And they may very well return to Aus with a 100% record in wins. Nice.

Jono Forte will get number 11 if no one else does. You heard it here first.

Thought he was signing for southend? Surely he's not in the registered 25?

To be fair I'd quite fancy a certain Tom Ince. Heard him interviewed on the radio yesterday and he sounded a very level headed lad. Certainly the best player in the Championship last year and would provide decent competition for Adam and Jay.

Not sure on Scott Sinclair really, he's got to be on a fair wedge at Man City and I think he'd expect to start every week which may upset the apple cart. I wouldn't want a Barry big balls at St. Mary's ruining our fantastic team spirit (not saying that Scott Sinclair is but you never know...)

I'd rather pay a more modest wage to someone like Ince and give him the chance to prove himself at a higher level - but what the hell do I know eh!

Nobody wants it because with this kind of reasoning:

if you put an i in front of 11 it becomes ill and who wants to be ill?

He was 9 for Roma, 17 for Espanyol.

Another signing on or around transfer day I'm being told. Not high profile in a sense, more of a gamble on a youngster.
