Not surprised or overly unhappy, BUT yet again harry has to speak about players before they have signed. It makes us look very stupid. Thats the 3rd time now. However, if he wants a central midfielder, I would suggest Liam Bridcutt at Brighton. Would love to sign him. Strong, powerful and good on the ball.
Harry does need to learn. Having said that, it was well known we were interested in Parker - so anyone could have asked Spuds if he was available. Can't blame him for choosing Premier football over us in all honesty.
Bit gutted but always seemed unlikely. 12 days to go so get ready for a Harry Hurricane in the last two hours!
Surely you don't really don't think that we were ever going to get Hooper, Parker, Townsend, Defoe, etc. It is noticeable that the ones who have come in have not been spoken about. Mourinho is right, it is all smoke and mirrors. All the "Harry needs to learn not to open his mouth", etc, is all bollox. He is far more canny than you think. All the news coverage goes on the unobtainable whilst other deals are being done behind the scenes.
I kind of agree with the last two posts, we do not know all the facts and some shrewd signings are no doubt being lined up. However I think that Harry is being a bit public in his more "high profile " dealings. No doubting he is a canny operator, however it doesn't make him look very clever whichever angle you choose to take. Saying that, a pleasing start so far to the season so not complaining so far..!
A shame on one hand, but we have 4 or 5 youngsters coming through so I would like to give one or two a chance. Especially in cup games to see whether they can step up to the mark. I've seen Ehmer and Sutherland and it has been mentioned that Scapetti (?) is useful. So with O'Neil and if we get Chris Baird I would be happy and then see what extra we need in January for the final push. Push.
We just have to keep Barton now. Anyway he is much better than Parker. Having said that ,now all the Barton haters stage is yours.....
And yes if course, the media will no doubt highlight those higher profile signings, but both hooper and Parker bids were by all accounts accepted by their clubs, so when Harry piped up before pen was on paper did make him look a bit foolish. They were not " unobtainable ", they just both chose PL clubs so in might have been wiser to not make premature assumptions before a done deal.
There might be some truth in that. But I don't think he would have stayed if we'd gone down under MH or anyone else for that matter.
This would have been a huge set back for us. Id have gone nuts if he was given 3 years here. Sky were disgusting during this transfer, every other bookies had fulham as massive favs and everyone else was reporting he would go to them, all sky sources were saying he was going to us and had short odds and incidentally Im sure, you could place a bet with skybet on him to go to us.
What HR did or didn't say has got nothing to do with 2 players choosing top flight footy in World Cup year over 2nd div footy. Surely people understand that???? Jebus!
I don't blame the players for choosing top flight football over second tier football. Their careers are important and any player who would consider us over a Premier team needs their head seeing to. That goes without saying. I do have a problem with our manager gobbing off to the press at every opportunity and virtually promising the fans of this club that he has signed two players when that clearly wasn't the case. That makes fools out of the fans and the club and does Harry no favours either. We all look like fools. Why can't he just keep his trap shut until the player is signed either by ourselves or somebody else and then make whatever comment he wants to make. Is that too much to ask for??
