Sky Sports will televise Cityâs Johnstoneâs Paint Trophy first round clash with Bristol Rovers on Wednesday, September 4th (7.45pm). The fixture is the first competitive Bristol derby since 2007 and will be played at Ashton Gate. Both clubs will bank £10,000 in TV money from the broadcast. Ticket details will follow in due course following discussions between the two clubs. http://www.bcfc.co.uk/news/article/20130819-jptonsky-1001436.aspx
Just got back from work,to find this wonderfull news. Will still attend the game though. Also quite surprised that Sky decided to show a LIVE game so early in the competition
Both clubs will lose money on the TV deal. Each club gets a miserly £10,000. Thus at £15 per ticket (just a gues as an average of adult and under 16's) it only needs about 1,300 people to decide not to come to Ashton Gate that evening to lose £10,000. So if the stay in the pub or at home merchants number more than 1,300, any profit from the TV money for both clubs is lost.
Probably better for the Rovers fans Cidered who dont manage to get a ticket at least they can watch the match rather than listen to it on the radio. Most real City supporters would rather get down to the gate and watch it live and raw so it probably wont make to much differerence to the final attendance especially at the reduced prices of £15. Im happy its on TV. Mainly for city fans worldwide and ones who wont be able to go. So what we don't make much money from it. Its the occasion that counts.
I see the Sags are getting excited about the return of Gary Kenneth for this game.! God I hope so. My mates boy has been on trial at Rovers for the last few weeks and played alongside him, he reckons he's truly awful and about 17 stone..
Great news for me here in Oz as I am sure I will find a site that is streaming it now its on Sky. It will be an early start but cannot wait.
apparently some slagheads are scared to go AG.. ****ing hell it's one of the friendliest places in the football league, which is why teams roll us over there every week..
'My mates boy has been on trial at Rovers for the last few weeks and played alongside him, he reckons he's truly awful and about 17 stone..' I hope that's not George banksy!
